I've heard similar lines in Joe Pass solos as well. Sounds great.

I have that exact guitar. Bought it with money from my first job when I was 17, 40 years ago. Same color, fretboard inlays and everything. Yours looks a lot newer though, all the plastic trim on mine has yellowed with age.

A couple of nice ideas! Playing the rhythm part as a samba gives it a nice joyful flavour and is easier to loop. BTW I'd put your guitar case away from radiator... ;) 😉

this is exactly what I was wanting from you think of what your favorite ideas are for playing over chords and show us how to use that playing a standard and how to think playing over the standard as a whole, very useful for learning how to play over the chords but also you are revealing what your favorite ideas are it would be so interesting to have a community where everyone shared what their favorite ideas are, ideas that don't sound like anyone or anything else, a catalyst of creativity and invention sometimes only requires just a little more imagination I have a creative mind but often criticize myself for not having enough imagination

I notice you're using roundwound strings, but you get very little string noise, just the occasional squeak. If I use roundwound on my 335 I get lots of string noise, particularly if I'm doing chord-melody with a walking bass. How are you avoiding string noise? Do you fully lift your fingers off the string before moving, or is it just that you've turned the treble down? I currently use flatwound strings, but seeing you play, I'm concerned that it may be masking a problem with my technique. I've been wanting a guitar to keep for jazz, and leave my 335 for blues. I think the 335's more suited to blues than jazz. I've been looking for a proper archtop with a solid, carved spruce top, and floating pickup with a good acoustic sound, so I don't have to plug in every time I want to play. After hearing yours, with just the sort of tone I'm after for recording, I may change my mind.

i am playing legato 😀kzbin.info/www/bejne/j4umgnmZbsumbdUsi=YKSR6DSwmLTuedwE
@Raven-Creations9 күн бұрын
@@tinajackel Thanks, but I think you misunderstood. I'm talking about the squeak when sliding along bass strings. When you fret a note on roundwound strings, your fingertip gets an impression of the string windings which squeak when sliding to the next note. It sounds similar to sliding a pick along a wound string. Moving quickly as in your legato video just makes the squeak shorter and higher pitched. There were a few instances of squeaks in your video, but they were nowhere near as intrusive as I find. I can use flatwound strings, but these don't sound great when I play blues.
