i've been thinking a lot lately about the world today; being old enough to have something to compare it to. i have a deep belief that everything works out for the best in the long run, so i'm not coming at it with negativity. that to say, i think there isn't an ideal medium to get this kind of thing to an audience that would appreciate & value it - you have a wonderful capacity for *noticing*, contemplating, & sharing. i'll share as i can, but i just wanted to say you're doing something special & i sincerely appreciate & respect it.

Hi Cairn, I love what you said here and really appreciate your words about what I'm doing. It sounds like we share some values! I find it tempting to slip into cynicism and a sense of hopelessness at certain things, but I definitely share your belief that things can work out for the better, and I see the way we process things and express ourselves as contributing factors to the kind of world that will emerge in time. Really appreciate you!

My mind in a rabbit warren now, thanks Andy! Realised this week how there will always be more beginners than experts. Helped me in many ways in the past couple of days when struggling with impostor syndrome. Ended up trusting that what I know is enough to step up and guide. I’m not here to impress experts but to help beginners. To your question: I know what I’m doing when I’m photographing ice with my gear. That was easy. I’m glad you didn’t ask a list. 😅
@thegentlerebel5 ай бұрын
"There will always be more beginners than experts" - yes! It's nice identifying who you DON'T need to speak to/impress/attract. I'm coming to a similar place - I just need to be for people I want to help, support, be with. Oh yeah, you DEFINITELY know what you're doing when you're in your ice photographing flow.

And there is also something like coolout - when nurses or doctors become so numb to permanent suffering that they can no longer deal empathetically with their patients. Overstimulation leads to freezing of emotions ❄
@thegentlerebel5 ай бұрын
Yes, that's very interesting and common! I felt that happen in my undertaking too - a kind of desensitisation where you become numb to the human experience. Partly a coping mechanism for overstimulation to emotional/sensory stimulation and partly mere exposure.

Hard stuff... Does this mean that the traumas that caused the primary states are in the past, while the traumas that cause the mixed states (being a hostage/ living in an abusive relationship/ making a podcast) are still ongoing?
@thegentlerebel11 ай бұрын
My understanding is that mixed states are situational responses. A cocktail of primary states used to meet the biological imperative of safety in the present moment. If the autonomic nervous system senses a threat, it mobilises the defensive reactions required to confront it. We have a dominant defensive state (sympathetic or shutdown) which I believe is the state the nervous system found most conducive to feeling safe in our early years. It seems that defensive mixed states are different cocktails the autonomic nervous system creates to respond to situations where it can't run/fight/hide. Which is where the appeasement and fawning seem to sit. If we are stuck in a defensive state (protective feedback loop), the nervous system is unable to recognise/connect with safe environments/people so will seek and sense threats instead even when doing things we want to do. That's why there is an emphasis on reshaping the nervous system to anchor in a state of connection before anything else. When we are anchored in connection, we have more control over using those other primary states in ways that assist our personal goals and intentions, without tipping over into them completely. From connection, we can start to reshape the protection patterns that are stopping us from doing what we want to do.

What a beautiful poem🧡 I think I like the way you distinguish between potentials and multitudes... Being aware that everything could be different, but not hiding behind infinite options and doing nothing. Just getting started in this very place with these very options, and bringing your multitudes into live.

There is a pastel green colored paper. This is a calming color. Put your KZbin channel on there, and , Calming Support. Put this on the page many times. Then cut the page from top to bottom and then 3 cm strips. Hand out these strips for four hours every Sunday with a warm smile. Some will be tossed to the ground, some will be discovered. Smiling at people will be good for you and so will the fresh air. Blessings 🍃🌎🍃
