I must say it is really fascinating me. It was neither difficult nor easy for me to understand. I struggled a lot sometimes to understand but i understood. It also helped me to recall and revise some chemistry, biology concepts.

Hi Mohit, I see you have completed your PhD? What are your future plans now?

Hi Mohit, I had a mixed math and computer science education at the undergrad level (applied computational math). I have always liked math a lot and have a feeling that I want to study it in great detail. Computer science is something I find novel and interesting, and I am attracted to it also because of its relevance in today's time. I want to study further (masters) but I can't make up my mind to either just go for math, or to study computer science and hoping that I get to study maths along the way. Do you have any suggestion that might help me make this decision?
@TheLoneSoul619
@TheLoneSoul619 6 күн бұрын
CSE for sure. Math only if you know what you want to pursue in future. CSE gives you opportunity to learn all the Math and pursue career in either field. It becomes your choice which side you want to invest time on. You get countless career options. Ultimately career opportunities help to keep one motivated and also pursue specific interests. CS is based on mathematics anyway. Rare math fields like computational topology exist which further have applications in CS. The CSE world is much more exciting with too much variety ranging from fundamental algorithms to AI, if one wants to explore.

Sir is 27 too high age to enter direct phd in IISc? Will most coworkers be 3-5years younger??
@TheLoneSoul619
@TheLoneSoul619 6 күн бұрын
No age is too high to pursue PhD. Different people join at different times. If you don't care then no one else cares. People from 22 to 35 or even more can be found in PhD. Single, married, having children, all are there. It all depends on individual.

Will professors allow if someone work very hard and try to complete direct PhD in 3 years at IISc??? I am asking this in context to CSA dept in general
@TheLoneSoul619
@TheLoneSoul619 6 күн бұрын
No one would want to carry the PhD students unnecessarily for a long time. It takes time and and effort from profs. If the candidate has done enough work, they are free to leave. Finishing in 3 years is very close to impossible unless everything falls in place and the candidate has a vision to get sure shot papers. 1~2 yrs with zero papers is very common due to the reasons which are not in anyone's hands such as long review cycles. Finishing in 3 years means the candidate has to get 4~5 papers while doing the course work in the first two years. Unless there is some rare scenario, that doesn't happen.

Is Robotics and Autonomous Systems ( RAS Mtech ) from IISC a good course to get into Drone And Navigation UAV technology industry ?
@TheLoneSoul619
@TheLoneSoul619 6 күн бұрын
I am not much aware of this exact course. The best way is to check the course details, the dept., research of different profs and their alumni. Only standard fact I can tell is any course at IISc makes you aware of all the necessary expected knowledge and you get the best people in that field to teach.

Is it tough to grab decent CGPA in ug bs? In a recent interaction i came to know only who had >=8 CGPA are eligible for MS program. Then what happens to those who can't make a good CGPA? From Where they persuade their next stage of study?because after getting bs research degree from IISC and then get eleminated from the college, do they at all complete their studies?
@TheLoneSoul619
@TheLoneSoul619 6 күн бұрын
May be the case for conversion to MS program. In general scoring is hard at IISc unlike other places. If anyone scores good then s/he is genuinely talented. However, there are plenty of opportunities after BS. That depends on their field since the courses are too varied. People go for direct PhDs or masters either at IISc or elsewhere. Future path depends on the candidates, their research work and interest. Some even pursue jobs. It's not difficult for an IISc candidate to get a job in corporate as per his/her skill set. Overall I would say that if one joins IISc and is honestly hardworking then the future choices depend on what s/he wants to choose. Rest of the things like CGPA etc are secondary. Faculties prefer to work with people who are sincere and ways can be found out to continue the work.

There have been initiatives to stop the usage since the day I have joined. But they were waiting for me to leave and implemented the. Next day I left from there. Actually I am not sure what's the status currently. They were surely allowed till May 2024. However, no one was allowed to kill a snake with it even then.

Which one should be preferred from placement point of view mtech csa vs mtech ai vs mtech cds?
@TheLoneSoul619
@TheLoneSoul619 29 күн бұрын
CDS and CSA are dept. Out of the two MTech CSA is preferred. MTech AI is a dedicated AI course in which you learn from multiple departments including CSA and CDS. If you are sure that you want to restrict only to AI then it's the best.

Sir is it possible to do remote jobs / freelance while being enrolled as a regular PhD student through GATE? Is it legal? And even if it's not, do the authorities care where student work in their free time?
@TheLoneSoul619
@TheLoneSoul619 Ай бұрын
No one cares but PhD students get no free time. At IISc PhD is like working double time already. One can spend time on hobbies since they help to relax and don't demand dedicated time. No one prefers to spend effort on a job if they want to finish PhD.

Bhayaa i am interested in software researcher career what I choose iisc bs(research) math and cs double major or nit cs I want know more about software researcher pathways
@TheLoneSoul619
@TheLoneSoul619 Ай бұрын
Choose IISc only if you are interested in pursuing research career further such as pursuing PhD after BS. It'll be harder than NIT CS but you'll get to learn the math that you can't learn anywhere else. After that you can pursue math or CS PhD in India or abroad depending on your capability and interest. Choose NIT CS if you want to get an easy BTech degree and a placement in IT company. You can pursue PhD in CS after that too, say through GATE in India or abroad if you get some research experience at NIT. But you won't get to know that much math. At IISc you won't be exposed to lot of Development oriented CS say coding but that's an easy thing and student learn the required amount by themselves. Choose IISc only if you want to work hard, learn and pursue higher studies. From a job point of view, NIT would give you decent job with much less effort.

@TheLoneSoul619 2 ай бұрын
Yes. I have too much occupancy and it's hard for me to not give all my efforts in any work. We can work as a one man army but time is still limited. Unfortunately, YT will always be on lower priority since I don't aim for growing the channel to earn money. My motivation here is just to share stuff I do and have a peaceful life. There is an ocean of content that I need to post but uploads will be slow. I have accepted it now, if we work good then we get lot of work and our availability decreases. This performance is from the annual showcase of IISc that happened 2 weeks back. I can't upload majority of my performances since any professional play involves efforts of many. Making a recording public wastes all the effort. This one is a college performance over which I have authority. But there will be compromises in the next segment due to the involvement of others.
