Best general should be highest battle points as it always has been for the last 30 years of whfb and t9a. This is not 40k/aos. There should be incentive for doing as well as possible in hard matchups outside of Best overall.

They need to put 8th Ed “horde” rule back into the game to make infantry even mildly useable unfortunately. Which won’t matter when a character on a monster challenges your unit leader/character and overkills by +5 easily routing the entire unit. Eh

At 3 hours i had 2/5 games that didnt finish. I feel like you can easily add 15 minutes to the rounds and it gives everyone a more relaxed event over all.

I am so so glad that we’re back to having some tournaments where second place best overall was three wins two losses that makes me feel like the game is in such a good place about having fun, hobby and doing fun stuff with friends. Rather than that Bret list which is just beat the shit out of people, make them sad. Make them wanna quit the hobby.

I agree with Yong-Duke that it was and probably still is too early to apply comp. Let the meta evolve first. The competitive scene has found ways to deal with Dragons and other powerful stuff. I believe the meta is evolving, still. Case in point, some of the comp didn't matter and you didn't put in any effective comp against what I believe to be the strongest army list (prior to the introduction of the Chaos Warriors arcane journal). I don't think it's a coincidence Bretonnia lists won both best overall and best general. Another thing to consider is how your comp affects the weaker factions. For some factions, monster lords or wizards are the tools they need to be able to fight back against the stronger factions. At the same time, the stronger factions don't really need this, because they are strong because they have more than just these crutches. Right now, the only comp I would consider is against things that lead to bad play experiences, like the scream list, illusion spam and maybe gunlines (the last one may be personal bias).

mort cult gets hit not because you need the extra levels but you need the extra spells. in the comp'd event i had 3 level 2s and just a crap shoot what spells you have access to.

For sportsmanship, the thing is in a GT everyone will tend to agree on 5s to maximize unless the game was really bad. So one way to do that would be: you give 1 if the game was ok, 0 if there had been issues like slow play or other stuff. Then at the end of the 5 games you get to vote your best oppo. Whoever gets more votes wins the sportsmanship award

Just looked it up again and it should be on a 100x150, and its on a 50x100. I'll get her converted up and properly based for the next event. thanks again for the correction!

Great event, loved all the new faces coming out and the cosplays were so much fun. Andy's Brendan Frasier from the Mummy for his Tomb Kings list had me laughing.

Good news re. Linehammer: you can only increase the frontage by max 5 models. So unlimited Linehammer shouldn't be possible. Quote Rulebook p.125: "A unit may use half of its Movement characteristic in order to deduct up to five models from its front rank (as shown in Fig 125.1), or to add up to five models to its front rank (as shown in Fig 125.2)."

All that comp definitely triggers a knee jerk reaction. Can't say it's bad without playing it, and maybe it will play great, but it feels bad to read. Particular low light being the cap on characters in units, if one unit gets wiped exposing a character it can't retreat to another unit if it would bring the character count in that unit up to 3? Seems gamey and also unnecessary. Also, and I say this as a player who would be massively advantaged by implementing them but... Standing in circles can get in the bin.

Happy to see so many empire players even though people say they currently suck. Also doing my best with them over here in Europe and trying out a few things. Griffon + tank + gunline + lvl 4 + knights seems to be the way to go. The witchhunter list looks very interesting. Might be good against vampire screams.

Really think they need to cap units, like minimum 3 dragon ogres in a unit. This just seems like a very cheesey list.
