It's insane how this game started as a student project shown at an art school job fair and how completely obsessed the internet was with it for so long for being only a couple hours long. One of my favorite Portal easter eggs isn't even an official crossover. Guillermo del Toro is a huge fan of the games and cast Glados' voice actress Ellen McLain as the voice of Gipsy Danger's onboard AI in Pacific Rim and specifically used nearly identical voice modulation for her performance. It's only there to be an "if you know, you know" for fans.

The Nintendo 64 port of this was so fantastic, until it got shut down :(

Hmm, i really don't know whether to talk about Ball or Throw here. They're both some of the most interesting kirby powers purely because of how odd they are. Shooting diagonally is neat tho. I'll let someone else do the "um, actually" about not being able to use abilities underwater, i can't be arsed to do it today.

The rotating building is actually an effect that's done better on the NES version than its GBA remake.

I feel like this is the only kirby game where Sword is actually better than Hammer. A lot of Hammer's really fun moves were added in kirby superstar so this first iteration of it feels like it's missing a lot. On top of that, Sword has better frames if i recall right, and maybe even more _reach_ than hammer in this. I never got past Shine and Bright as a kid. Looking at this video now, i think a lot of does come down to the attacks that come from the inactive one (either the sunbeam and star attacks). Those are really fast to the point where you basically have to read what they're going to do in order to actually suck their projectiles.

Their Salted Caramel Craze and I'm having a brain fart on the name, but something like Butter Pecan Caramel, are both really good too. I also can't help but hear a Sonic Colors-esque announcer shouting out a power name that Kirby obtains.

Ironically, me liking Mint Choc Chip icecream the best is probably incredibly vanilla of me. 15:02 ok so i can explain exactly what happened here. Wheel has a 9 frame startup animation where you can still get hit before turning invincible. You had to survive 2 more frames in order to hit that bronto burt in time, ever so slightly too close to it position-wise. As for the second time you got hit by the burt, you crashed into the wall which then cancelled wheel's invincibility, and the crash bounced you off wall in such a way that you hit the burt. You were _super_ unlucky there man lmao. The thing is, I can't even laugh that hard, I would've done the exact same thing. Kirby's Adventure is on the harder end of kirby games imo, which makes it a really fun game.

It was interesting to see Dreamland 3 on that poll instead of Superstar, but I kind of get the impression that if Superstar was on that poll it would've won by a landslide lmao. I did nearly vote for DL3, but i picked Adventure instead because it's definitely arguable that it's Masahiro Sakurai's magnum opus. (I would say that Revenge of Meta Knight from Superstar is more fitting of that title, but there's no denying that this game is where a lot of his design philosophy really started.)

Wait, I never knew Kirby Nightmare in Dreamland was a remake... This just blew my mind because I played that a ton growing up. I had no idea this game existed and it's like seeing a really good demake 🤯
