Hi, Ben. I have a question about the levels you have in the new red toolbox. At about 0:40 seconds in and between the hand vise and marking scribes there are 8 levels. I picked one up last week at an estate sale and there is nothing on it to identify it. I haven't taken it apart yet as it does need a good cleaning and de-rusting. It isn't brass but cast iron and a bit on the heavy side. George
@tooladdict74635 күн бұрын
hi there most of them George are unmarked. Most of them tend to be Scottish with Ebony and brass different designs. There was lots of different manufacturers making the same product. Some of them Difficult to find maybe when you clean it up, you might find more information either way they’re nice things to have

Ben- I absolutely love antique show and shops- although many times the prices are unreasonably high I have found there are always bargains hidden in these shows and that’s the fun of it. My problem is I have so many interests that a place like that for me is like taking an alcoholic to a pub. That batwing typewriter at the end was pretty neat. Great stuff! 😃👍

The more I look at it the more I thimk the Bulldog was some sort of special verison that was never really blue. The plaque and base are too well done anyway. I could'nt tell from the video but if the screws are still under the felt, I'd be quite sure that it has never been of and is not repainted. I think it has found a nice home. Otherwise I might know one😅

7:39 that’s a nice skew offset chisel; offset so you can clean out those pockets where a normal chisel would not be able to get the proper angle because the handle itself prevents you from getting lower; the offset chisel has a tip that comes down lower than the handle. The 8 probably is for 8 mm - give the tip a measure and see what he reads (but since it is skew tip - to slice through tough grains - make sure to measure behind the bevel)
@devinteske20 күн бұрын
Now at 4:13 this is what I tuned-in for. Came by to see this double bevel gauge. Never seen anything like it really. What a find!
@devinteske20 күн бұрын
Just prior to 3:42 I am stumped as to what those things from France are. I can tell you though that what followed are some really nice wing dividers. Then at 6:16 you’ve got regular dividers
@devinteske20 күн бұрын
2:24 bevel gauge; screw set. Take a screwdriver to loosen the screw holding the blade stationary and it will pivot freely. Tighten the screw up enough to allow the blade to still pivot with some force, then set your desired angle (often by copying it physically by pressing the tool against some material), then lock the blade by fully tightening the screw (just enough so the blade holds its position). You can now transfer that angle to wherever it is necessary
@devinteske20 күн бұрын
2:16 pin marking gauge and the location of the brass wear plate gives us a hint that it is used with wood and its relatively short reach implies dovetail layout and anything else where reach is not necessary (where a panel marking gauge would be more appropriate if reach is desired)
@devinteske20 күн бұрын
1:44 the next two tools are creasers for putting a decorative edge on leather. Wet a cotton swab (wet but not enough to drip) and run it back and forth along the edge, allowing it to soak in then slowly and gently work the profile you like onto the leather. Each creaser has two ends, each end is a different profile. Each profile has a long edge that is used as a guide along the edge of the leather. To profile around corners, tip the creaser up on tip-toe to reduce its footprint. When it looks nice, let the leather dry. The pattern will not be as strong as if you use an electric creaser, but it will be more satisfying that you put the pattern edge on yourself

Woaaahhh. I have a Pexto pipe wrench from the late 19th century. The wooden handle broke into three pieces but I have the pieces. Alloy Artifacts doesn’t even have a picture of the version I have (yet). What do you think about having a replacement handle made?
@tooladdict746323 күн бұрын
I’m guessing you would have to make the handle because it would be difficult to find an original one unless she used a donor wrench so I’m guessing that’s a good idea. Always good to put a wrench back in service.

Hey there , I hope you're doing well! Your Video is very interesting, I like your content! But your channel is not well-optimised, Video "SEO" score is very low. That's why your channel rank is very low in Subscribers and video views. If you fix the "SEO" area in your Video, you get huge audiences. I am waiting for your reply.. thanks & regards Alamin Islam

hi there I don’t monetise my channel nor do I make any money in any other way. I put the videos up if anyone’s interested they can watch them and if not that’s also fine. It’s up to them. I don’t make much effort with them. I just make a clip and put it up, I really don’t want any more subscribers because then I have more comments and more idiots come to the channel. I would like less subscribers. Can you fix this problem?
