They're unringable due to massive frame movement, though they are planning for some steelwork to be installed to stabilise the frame.
@SantaRudolph-ef6lv16 күн бұрын
@ so how are they being rung then.
@francescogreenslade779316 күн бұрын
@SantaRudolph-ef6lv The bells and fittings are in good enough condition to be safe to ring, but the insane frame movement is the problem, as such only short pieces of ringing are allowed.
@maidstone1016 күн бұрын
@SantaRudolph-ef6lvvery rarely rung but just about ok. Soon to be totally restored, tenor retuned to match and a treble to be added
@SantaRudolph-ef6lv9 күн бұрын
Maybe when the bells get restored and a new treble gets added it might sound a bit nicer.

Can you do a new one of these with the new tenor clapper Graham?
@francescogreenslade77933 ай бұрын
The tenor does have a rather noticeable double strike, particularly when it's being rung slow at Backstroke.
@isaacoshea65293 ай бұрын
You dont get hum with a clapper that lies heavy on the bell. All well designed timber clappers bounce. All of the clappers produced by Avon ropes which follow the same scientific principles as the ones I produce. Otherwise it's just a splat. The other added benefit is that the ball is unlikely to shear from the tang.
@isaacoshea65293 ай бұрын
Look at the video of Bow bells from the belfry that shows the new clapper in the tenor. Almost identical bounce. Same concept, only that one was made by Avon.

Absolutely awesome, that is how to get bells down in peal, we rarely get our bells down in peal at my tower ( we have 8 bells here at Beoley Church Worcestershire) as we haven't got enough experienced ringers who can do it, a lot of our band are learners who in some cases are just starting to get a bell up and down on their own without someone standing by them, they are doing really well now so someday maybe 🙏, anyway thank you for sharing this and we'll done to all the ringers there that is definitely a lesson on how to get bells down in peal competently 😊👍

My dad hung the old 12as he was a bellhanger for Whitechapel, he didnt like the bells, a real bunch of old bangers, he also thought them to heavy for thr tower. The new Taylor 12 is pure magic. The back 10 sound so much like the 10 at Maidstone, which are a truly wonderful ten.

Maidstone are truly sensational bells to listen to. There is a very deep sense of warmth to them and a glow. Maybe it is also the tower and the surrounds that add to them.
