what happens if you put a big wheel on the treble, will it go up wrong and go more slow?

Beautiful lower - is it just me or is the treble’s ceiling boss loose? It could just be from the video not being able to pick up that well, but towards the end of the lower it seems to shimmy a fair bit

I rang at stanton st john on an open day and let's just say it wasn't one of the best experiences of my ringing career!, when I arrived the place was heaving with people and as the ringing chamber is so tiny you could only have five people up there at any one time. the band I was in was included this awful man with a bowl haircut and whenever someone made even the slightest error he would angrily bellow "LEAD" or "4,5!" if someone happened to loose where they were in grandsire, needless to say he scared the crap out of me and the experience did dent my confidence for weeks afterwards but thankfully I'm now over it!.

I listen to this superb touch of Stedman Caters every morning when I’m doing a physiotherapy exercise for scoliosis and I have to hang over the side of my chair for 15 minutes, it really sets me up for the day. @maidstone10 yes Graham you are big fan and with good reason, they also sound beautiful outside. I alway like 10s over 8s and even 12s they sound so bright and rounded, it is almost like the perfect balance. Having said that I do like bells that are tonally good but also that all bells in the peal are of the same tonal quality Im not a great lover of old bangers like Pimlico. Whilst I love Whitechapel bells because of my old man even he knew Taylor's make the best tenors. I rang at Washington National Cathedral in 2019, a really nice peal but the tenor doesn't have the warmth and breath of Miadstone.

Hello Graham, why did the tenor get a new clapper, I thought it already had a wooden shafted clapper. Also, with the new clapper, does the tenor go up right, or do you still need to flip the clapper
@maidstone10

Very early wooden clapper and had a fantastic offer to replace it with a counterbalanced one with an egg shaped ball. The bell goes up right without even trying!
@Steven_Rowe
@Steven_Rowe 2 ай бұрын
@@maidstone10 the counterbalance would ensure that. Always like counterbalanced clappers like on Great Paul I have a video of a great Paul I shot in August 2000. I first saw it in 1963 it was rung manually and it had a heart shaped clapper.

@@maidstone10 Hello Graham, I'm not to sure why some bells ho up wrong, with a big bell like Maidstone tenor you need to check the bell and sometimes it helps if you have a couple on the rope. Some bells do have a small counterbalance, but I was thinking where is the best place for the pivot in relationship to the axis of the bearings. It could be in line, above or below and obviously the headstock profile can lift the bell slightly above the bearings .

Absolutely lovely and so nostalgic for me living in Aus for 52 years. Dad was a whitechapel bell hanger till 1972 and apart from ringing tours i used to go with dad during school holidays and help him Apart from ringing bells up for dad i was the one who had to go down to the trucj to get all manner of stuff in luding clappers etc. I w9uld also explore the church and surrounds, the smell of cool stone and timber, the smell of grass and the bird song, i so wanted to live in places like this but alas had to return home to north London , with traffic street lamps and anti social behaviour. I remember going down to Devon and it was so rural and the only crimes seem to be somebody had pinched some turnips
