Love this! So nice to see peoples journeys of how they ended up in certain jobs/roles. It always looks so cool seeing people harnessed in cars doing shots like that, looks so fun too ha!

@@mbrooksfilms, thanks for your answer. Stereo monitoring from a mono recording? How is that possible? Could you be confusing stereo with dual mono? Does it have different sound on the left and right sides of the headphones (stereo) or is it exactly the same (dual mono)? If you don't use it with a mic plugged in and if you plug in a stereo 3,5mm jack with a stereo signal, will it record in mono (just one side), dual mono (both side with the same sound) or stereo (different sound on each L/R sides)?

Nice video man. I just scored a mint F2 for $60 on FB. Have you upgraded the stock lavalier mic. yet? I might buy the Sony stereo mic, ECMLV1. Can you tell me if the stock mic is a stereo mic or if the F2 records it in stereo? This will determine if I buy a stereo mic. Thank you.

I haven't upgraded the mic yet but it's a very good shout, and Sony are known for their broadcast quality kit. I can confirm the Zoom F2 records in mono only, but interestingly the bluetooth model that I have has a stereo output for monitoring or hooking up to a Tx to record the audio separately

@@mbrooksfilms That is interesting, record in mono with a stereo out. Thank you.

I suppose the sound would be 10x better if the mic was right at your mouth, right?

I use pocket field recorders (Tascam). I have been burned by wireless many times in last 20+ years. Wireless also adds complexity to workflow. The little zoom recorder looks great. Good show!

Brother, how are you, excellent video, you know that I am in a situation where I need the equipment as you have it configured. I hope you are fine. I am experiencing issues with manual calibration of my FeiyuTech SCORP 2 gimbal. I have followed the calibration procedures outlined in the user manual, but the gimbal continues to tilt forward consistently. My equipment configuration is as follows: - iPhone 14 Pro Max (240 grams) - Desview T2 Teleprompter (340 grams) - Sony ZV-E1 camera (483 grams) - Sony FE 4/PZ 16-35mm G lens (353 grams) - SmallRig Mounting Plate and Counterweight (200 grams) The total weight of my setup is approximately 1,616 kg. I have seen that other users have been able to calibrate the gimbal with much heavier lenses and settings, which leads me to think that I might be skipping some critical step or that there may be some specific problem with my gimbal unit. I would be very grateful if you could offer me technical assistance to resolve this issue. I am willing to provide any additional information necessary or perform any tests indicated to diagnose and resolve the problem. I look forward to your response and thank you in advance for your help. Sincerely,

just use the DJI mk2 or Røde Pro , both with 32 bit. You don't have to sync and can also record on the device.

Why not mention that the other options (Rode wireless PRO, DJI Mic II) can do the same? They do 32 bit float now and can record internally and to the camera at the same time. They are more expensive yes, but they are also more versatile and can be used identically to the F2 if needed 😊

Love this review and agree 100%. I have the F2 and when using a lav mic I just use that rather than the Wireless Go which I actually find more complicated to use. And 32 bit float is a nice feature as well. Sometimes I'll plug in a RODE Videomic Go 2 into the F2 as it can be used in that way as well.

Really useful tip. I've got the Zoom H1n recorder and that works like a charm for my needs, but the F2 looks pretty sweet too.

I use one of these, but a backup recording is still necessary. For that I use an F3 with two SDC mics as close to the speaker as I can get.

I can get behind some of what you're saying but in more recent developments the newer versions of the Rode and DJI wireless systems record 32-bit. So if you can afford them, I would. This is notable becuase there are several other factors that will ruin your audio other than overmodulation (peaking), such as plosives, clothing rubbing, talent touching the microphone and so on. I argue that not monitoring your audio is extremely dangerous. With these neewer systems you can monitor the audio without running a super long cable or creating a wireless hop (putting a transmitter on the F2 output). I think theses new wireless options are better because they have the 32-bit backup recording option, wireless monitoring and gaining staging in a small compact package. I will concede these 2.4 GHz wireless audio systems, have given me a trouble on one occasion where I was running a sennheiser AVX system plugged into one XLR and wireless Rode go on the other XLR in a highly congested wireless environment. They definitely were interfering with each other and I had to drop one of the wireless mics. Becuase the rode system had a recorder in it, I just turned it into a podium, mic. I used the senneiser, G2 and G3 systems, which are UHF systems for years, and I had way more problems with them, even if I was scanning ahead of time. For me, I'm pretty convinced 2.4 GHz is professional enough however, if I run into wireless issues ever again, I'll just use that back up recording option and go blind on monitoring. On another note about this recorder, I did consider buying one of these zooms f2's but not for the reason you may have thought. I've always bought Zoom recorders namely with zoom H4N, H6 and now the F6. I was hoping that the stereo 3.5mm input would actually record both channels and this would be an amazing super pocketable field recorder for XY ambiance recording. After extensive research, I discovered that it's simply just a single channel recorder. A real missed opportunity for zoom to make the best ambiance recorder on the market. Apparently Deity has one in the works but it keeps getting delayed. Thanks for the video, I think finding the process that works best for you is worth celebrating, keep it up!

The one I have was by a brand called Desview, ordered on Amazon in the UK. I can't find it listed anymore, but there's a very similar one by Pronstoor. If you're based outaside the UK then the product listings may vary, but you're looking for one that's small enough to use with a phone. Teleprompters made for iPads and tablets are too big to be mounted on gimbals, so bare that in mind!
