En México también hay apaches pero están perdiendo sus raíces y sus costumbres ojalá pudieran conocerlos

I've seen so many dances where the godmother poured the candy over the samaghzee. Why does the god father do it now? God father never was around. It was a woman affair on Saturday morning.
@dksancarlosdk4 жыл бұрын
Dale Dillon yes it was , depends on the medicine man, sometimes we would tell the medicine man we wanted the God mother to pour the candy and they had no problem with that, even the girl brought the god mother in with her can also....

Is this a sacred dance, and do the Apaches allow stuff like this to be taped? Or is it more "social" ?
@dksancarlosdk9 жыл бұрын
More sacred, only still photos are allowed, no video. But, some people still video and some medicine men allow to be recorded. My relatives say if its taped the the prayers and spirits will be stuck down here on earth and not go to the spirit above. Its a controversy with sacred doings with the apaches, because the people who tape are not traditional, and as by dad says, not Apache, Most now a days, dont speak the language like my self. The crown dancers are sacred and the medicine men are now trying not to have the be social, like in parades and stuff, because they are sacred. The hopi dont parade their Katchinas and have contest, like some on the white mountain apache tribe. Soon this will all be lost if the People in san carlos dont learn the language and culture. I live in los angeles so i have an excuse. Aye.

dksancarlosdk-Unless it is not allowed to explain to outsiders, at approximately 2:00min. the young maiden appears to have her head and shoulders covered with something-may I ask, what it is and what is the meaning behind it being put on her?
@dksancarlosdk5 жыл бұрын
Flickchaser it goes back to the Apache creation story. A long time ago during the great flood the Matriarch of all Apaches “ white painted Woman” took shelter in an Abalone shell and when the floods receded the Apache Woman walked out of the abalone shell all covered in white, from the sea salt. White painted lady emerged from the abalone shell all covered in white to start the beginning of the Apache People. So at the end of the ceremony the girl is painted white to become White Painted Woman, in essence “An Apache Woman”
