I just got one. Did you figure it out how to have the mower ON while moving in reverse? Also what voltage is the charger for the battery?
@adamcowling18 күн бұрын
The blades cut off when put in reverse. It's a safety feature that is good by me. The charger works on a standard 110-volt outlet.

I got this shoe soling rubber on Etsy. If you search for "Duratec Soling" it should lead you to what I bought. Back when I bought it, it was like $13, but appears to be $20, so it's not the cheapest option (and maybe not better than just buying new cheap paddles every year or two). I haven't used it too much in the last couple of years, but the rubber has held up well. It hasn't dry rotted in storage like a lot of the real cheap paddles do from place like Walmart. It makes for a good option on hardbat type paddles; I haven't found anything better for replicating that particular feeling.

Where do you order the Shoe Soling Rubber? Can you share a link? After having it and using it for a while now, how has it held up? Pros and Cons? Any better quality options youve tried as well as any cheaper options?

what size brackets and screws did you use? Are the brackets keeping the wood on the table?
@adamcowling Жыл бұрын
I believe the brackets were approximately 1 inch. Picked them so they were just smaller than the thickness of the table I was screwing too, so they wouldn't interfere with closing the table. The screws were 1/2-inch I think. Enough to go into the table side without interfering with the table legs when folded. I had to add the plywood bits under the MDF top so the screws wouldn't go through to the top surface of the table. The brackets are the only thing keeping the top on the table. The table is still holding up well after a couple of years.

Runs great, battery has held up well so far. Mow about 1/2 an acre every 1-2 weeks using about 30% of battery. Yard is pretty bumpy, but everything is holding together fine.

Clever jig. Now you should try making a more sophisticated bat (paddle) using lamination technique of a combination of exotic woods. Total weight of the bat should remain under 90g.
@adamcowling3 жыл бұрын
Thanks. I'm hoping to start down that path soon, just need to find some spare time.
@AA-rc4zr3 жыл бұрын
Also, bare in mind that the shape of the bat will determine the size and location of the sweet spot. Very important. If you promise to send me a sample, I’ll give you some specs and scanned shape to play with. Will save you a lot time and effort. :)

Hey man, great stuff. Btw, what board should i get when buying? Is it plywood?
@adamcowling3 жыл бұрын
I used 1/2" thick MDF (medium density fiberboard) for the top. Plywood would work, but would probably need to be pretty high quality to bounce consistently. MDF is cheaper and is usually pretty flat as long you keep it dry.

I like the idea fish of the fishing line racket more but maybe instead on fishing line, I thought of rubber line. It’s the same rubber as normal ping pong racket. I believe this would create more topspin. When making it, I think making less mains and crosses, but with a higher tension would make more spin and control. I’m really fascinated by tennis style ping pong paddles. Please experiment with this.
@adamcowling3 жыл бұрын
I'll have to look into that. I did wonder about rinsing these rubber bands since they kinda of have a powdery finish on them so they don't stick together in the bag. I have wire on my long list of paddles to try, but I will definitely add rubber line and maybe surgical tubing to the list. Thanks for the comment.

What is the polycrylic paint used for?
@adamcowling3 жыл бұрын
The polycrylic is a clear coat finish. It's similar to a polyurethane finish but is a little bit easier to apply and works really well over paint. It mainly just protects the surface to help the paint and mdf last longer.

For leisure the racket is ok, but it is not suitable for competition because of the glue, the use of this glue is illegal for competitions.
@adamcowling3 жыл бұрын
Absolutely. If someone wants to play competitively they should invest in the proper glue. I plan to eventually get some and test it out.

The krak folks have had a rough time during the pandemic, so it's not the same product that it used to be. If they every get back to producing the regular boxes like I've shown on my channel, I think they're worth it. Right now, they aren't doing that so I can't recommend it.
