i didn't watch the other ep so idk if you know this but you can search the dead body(or anybody but you have to crouch) but you don't have the option bc you changed the controls. if you didn't find the murder weapon around the body, the weapon is probably in the killer's pockets when they're wearing their outside clothes

Not a spoiler, an explanation: In case it wasn't explained, you found the Myst book on Earth, in the desert (New Mexico in the late 1700s it turns out). Linked through it, helped Atrus bring justice to his sons and then some tome later, he sent you to Riven. Having captured Gehn, he sends you trhough the Fissure, the samw way the Myst book reached you in the first place. Atrus was trapped in D'ni, which is a massive cavern containing the ancient City of the D'ni people before their Civilization collapsed. The cavern is several miles under New Mexico below where you found the Myst book. While technically, he knows he could Link you to D'ni with you and Catherine and then guide you back up to Earth's surface, fhe journey is days long, dark uncomfortable and kinda dangerous. If separated you'd be lost forever. The Fissure was the fastest and safest way to get you home. On that note, you may be advised as to who the player is. You, in this game are the Stranger, an unnamed protagonist from the late 18th Century. You won't be playing as your literal self in the 21st Century until Uru in which the Myst Games actually exist as introductory lessons made by Cyan to educate the public on D'ni, having been discovered by archeologists. In other words, according to the in universe canon of the story, you are playing a loose adaption of actual events. The games actually exist in the Myst universe. How loose? When you get to Myst 4 you'll discover that Trap Books aren't even really a thing. But thats for later.
