Good video Rob, I caught my first ever barbel with your assistance, and that was it I was addicted 😂 I’ve never been so obsessed with anything in my life, can’t wait for the new season, I’ll be down berts for about a month if you fancy meeting up for a catchup. It would be great to see you mate. Hope you and the family are all good, keep up the good work. Take care

15lb line did you say? Unbelievable in my opinion,I've never gone above 8lb but usually 6lb maxima and never been broken
@chrisynwa47163 жыл бұрын
15lb line is what I use. 6lb line is idiotic for a barbel. That line breaks half way through a barbel scrap that fish could potentially go belly up. I'd love to see you catch a 13lb 6oz barbel on the tidal trent with 6lb line!!!! Recipe for disaster mate!!! Barbel welfare is paramount to me!
@tomstorey72673 жыл бұрын
@@chrisynwa4716 hello Chris, I have never fished the trent only the middle severn, Teme and Warwickshire avon and have never caught bigger than 10ib 6oz but in the last 45 years have caught many hundreds of barbel all using same main line strength and when using maggots a 4lb hook length and drennan super spade 16s,using my Preffered bait of luncheon meat is 6ib direct to size 8. I play the fish rather than haul it out thereby reducing the risk of crack offs but concede it can tire the fish more but I ensure the fish is rested prior to release, don't ever match fish and don't use a keep net either. I enjoyed your video Chris and noted the SVR hoot.

I know that feeling well. A shock of primal fear jolting through your body as a pike explodes from the depths and grabs your fish right in front of you. Before you remember its only a daft little fish that cant hurt you.

Rob. What an incredible couple of sessions and great footage of some of the takes. That’s two barbel lost to pike in no time at all it seems, very worrying. I would have thought a 4 lbs barbel would have been safe from a pike but it seems it is not. Is this stretch one of the ones you took my mate Alan and I to a year or two ago? Best wishes.
@harryturner30634 жыл бұрын
Rob. Just watched this video for the second time. What a session, the barbel seemed to be queueing up to be caught it seemed. I notice you did not reply to my last post. Am struggling on Warks Avon for barbel this winter after all the floods we have experienced, I’ve no doubt it has affected the Severn as well!

@@merkinmitchell ,you have no idea mate. Its virtually finished fishing on the cuts apart from a few lure anglers. Fishing a match is basically impossible in most places. There are few spots where the towpath is wide enough to fish a pole without a cyclist or jogger getting in the way
