You can easily take the switch appart and clean the contact point and the small copper slider plate, reassemble including it’s small spring then snap it back together and voilà It works my tale lights come on now.

It's in beautiful condition. The numbers stamped on the chassis and the label indicate a final assembly date of the 24th week of 1954. The 1953 models were introduced in late 1952, in time for Christmas. It looks like this model was produced well into 1954. Very nice.
