I think she is sincere and very wise for her age. She has worked hard for her creative freedom. A life in the spotlight with much work at her age is not something that is automatically "good for her" - if it means to be controlled by others who is telling her what to do. She has two sides - maturity and playfulness - which both are needed to stay creative for a long time. In this interview she practically says that she "wants to be like her parents" and that is a really good answer to give at her age if you want to keep expectations and opinions short
Great interview! Yoyoka is definitely well spoken and intelligent. I’m impressed that she knows what she wants and goes after it. Being behind the scenes is a great way to learn how each person’s part contributes to a successful show, album, etc. It also makes you appreciate even the little things. There is much success for Yoyoka, no matter what life path she takes.

One great thing to love about Yoyoka is how much she appreciates her parents' sacrifice for her and Shido's dreams. And that pretty much says everything you need to know about Yoyoka's character (and I'm sure Shido's as well). Her trajectory for success started in the heart and the home. Listening to her outline her longer-term ambitions, it's intriguing that she says she wants to become part of what is essentially road crew and things like that. I believe that is a great idea, in fact. She'll get to see how things are put together for a show and eventually she'll no doubt get to organize and produce productions. This despite her insistence that she's not thinking in those terms right now. It would be an organic progression though.
Raised right. A young musician of character. Mrs. Rie and Mr. Akifumi can be proud of this remarkable human being!

Thank you for another great interview Mr. Nakamura! And thank you SO much for the English subtitles! You are always so kind and respectful to YOYOKA. Time flies by for here here because she has such a busy schedule (by choice). She was already at the top of her game when she moved here, but she has grown immensely for a number of reasons. One being the Oakland School For The Arts. Of course this is my opinion, seeing it from a fan's perspective, but it seems very clear to me, that they (and all her hard work) had a very large impact on her progress musically. And of course she works (fun for her) harder than most adults in the U.S. She has a lot of freedom of choices, and of course, being so smart, she makes the right choices. Have to say though, I'm a bit disappointed in her choice to work behind the scenes. She has so much more to offer, than most people are even capable of. She has a unique gift that few others in the world have, or for that matter, have even had in all of history, and it could be used to do great things around the world, like her original dreams were of making things better for people around the world through her music, breaking down racism, and sexual discrimination, and other world problems. I do hope she changes her mind. She will make the best choice that is right for her, I'm sure. It's unfortunate that all of the attention of performing makes her so uncomfortable. I hope at least she decides to do something more along the lines of writing or producing music, something that can have the same affect on the world, as what she originally dreamed about, rather than maual labor. Thanks again!

I think her desire to contribute to the nuts and bolts of creating musical events is admirable. It may never come to full fruition but if it does Yoyoka will excel at it perhaps only for a season. It is cool to get a glimpse into her thinking as she grows.

The fact that YOYOKA recognizes and appreciates all the hard work that goes behind the scene, especially at her age, are testaments to her maturity, humility and profound attention to details. She truly is an amazing person of character and great role model. I should also note that her english has improved immensely.

I believe that we must not forget that she is only 13 years old and that we must give her the time to make the best possible learning of all this immense talent that she has and, as you say so well, to do the right choice according to their values.
You want to challeng !! 35 years ago, I was a drummer like you and the name of my band was : Challenge !!!
