Beautiful! So relaxing to watch, even though I know the reaches from Goytre-Brecon well. I so rarely see it from on the water; and when I do, it’s from a working narrowboat. Thank you…

We skippered hotel boats on this canal for 6 months in 1999. A nostalgic video for us!

I live near the Crown Bridge in Sebastopol. Must say you quite brave using the southern section from Goytre. It’s pretty shallow and full of weed and rubbish from the new housing Good to see where I walk my dogs from a boat perspective !
@boatingbaldy92114 ай бұрын
I think that because it was spring time the weeds had not started to grow and it wasn’t too bad at all

Thank You for this. My wife, father and mother ran Red Line Boats at Goytre Wharf for twelve years (1985-1997). It was good to see the place again, but we'll probably see it in the flesh, so to speak, in August 2024 when we're in the UK on holiday from New Zealand where we have lived for twenty years. Hope you have many happy years of boating. David Horne

Was one week enough? Can you stop to hike or shop in any towns along the way?
@boatingbaldy92114 ай бұрын
It was enough for us, yes. However, if you wanted to explore the various villages along the way you wouldn’t be able to do the whole canal in one week

Rented from them years ago. A lovely trip ! Great to see more of the canal open. Best boats in the business.

I used to do a 10 mile raft race along that river. Bideford on Avon to Evesham. it was always in April and the water was still very cold.

Lovely videos.would you say the Route for part 1 is more Scenic? Very inspired by your video...but we would do it for just 3/4 days...hence the query
@boatingbaldy9211 Жыл бұрын
Yes, we prefer the southern end. However, the whole canal is beautiful and well worth the trip. I imagine weed may be a problem in summer at the southern end, as fewer people go that way for some reason.
@darrenlewis44232 жыл бұрын
I live on this canal about half way along in Gilwern. In my 50 years ive never traveled it all along but am planing on doing it next year in a small boat and camping on the way.

Hi thanks we are starting at pencelli,cambrian boats,so going down south and back to there would be no problem,we like quiet moorings so hopefully that way should be OK
@aa41722 жыл бұрын
hi loving the video,how far did you get in the week, it looks good on the southern end,are there many moorings that way, we have been as far as gilwern and Brecon
@boatingbaldy92112 жыл бұрын
Hi. We got fully South and North to Brecon in a week, but we cruised on average for around 7 to 8 hours per day. We actually prefer the canal Southwards from Llangattock, as the views are fantastic, although ‘proper’ moorings are slightly fewer down that end. Plan ahead with a good canal guide book and you should have no problems 🙂

Hi there, I have a freeman 23. What’s the purpose of moving the throttle like that before start up? The person I bought it off two years ago said not to do it but recently the engine has been running strange (stalling at low revs etc) so I copied your start up routine, moving the throttle lever like you do and it now runs fine?! Great videos btw
@boatingbaldy92112 жыл бұрын
Hi. I think it pumps fuel into the carb before starting, so helps the engine to fire up 👍
