Joe. Please know that I am saying this with peace, love, and respect, but after watching this video, you got to get off of eBay. You are a logical, fair, and straight shooter trying to make sense and change something that can't be changed or fixed. Please do not take this as an attack, but if you would go to your dr and show him this video of you trying to annalize your buyer by looking up their age and history your doc would get you on some anti anxiety meds and quick. Please save your sanity and get off of eBay before you stroke out. Believe it or not, I care about your health and sanity, and this video was off the rails.

I will never promote my listings. They lost me as a consistent seller. Time to apply my time to other venues.

That attitude only hurts you. Better would be to increase your price by the cost of the promotion. Then you get the sales and still get to keep the same amount of $ as you always have.

Respectfully I just want to say I don’t agree with you about promoted listings. I sell in Motors as well as other categories. I do not promote at all and sales couldn’t be better. But besides that, it seems like there is no future in promoting. Lets just say everyone promotes at 5% then 5% becomes the new 0% and you have to promote at 6% or more to see any benefit. Where do you draw the line? With most suggested rates at almost 15% do you stop there or would you go up to 20%. At some point it is no longer profitable to sell on eBay. Not to mention what PL’s have done to ebay search. I buy quite a bit on eBay Motors and have found that its easier to search on google instead of eBay because eBay shows me so much crap that doesn’t have anything to do with what I searched for. eBay used to have the best search. Anyway just my 2 cents. By the way you are right about the geriatric buyers most of my ebay issues come from buyers over 70.

Don't hate me, but when I get that question -What is your best price?. I do give them a slight break and only one. If they come back with another low offer = goodbye. I do promoted listings of the minimum 2% as I believe and hope? that other sellers really hate to give ebay any more money and even the small promoted number gives me an advantage. For items that I really have no competition or if the others are all used and mine is new with tags,, = no promotion - let them buy a used one, mine is better.

When there are other sellers selling the same thing, you have to promote. But if you're the only one with an item, do not promote!

The egg nog is ion sale in New Milford NJ Shop Rite. You should be able when you set up best offers to have the ebaysystem automatically reject offers too low for you to consider, this will save you the time of having to manually review them and then reject them, using up your valuable time.

I was in the shop right in Paramus New Jersey because it's close to Kohl's in Bergen Town Center but maybe I will try that other store. I used to set my eBay listings up just the way you said but last year I stop doing it that way. I may have to go back to it though.

When buyers try to take the shortcut to my best price, I simply respond, "I have my price shown on the listing. If you would like to make an offer, then I will be more than happy to consider your best offer. Thank you." If they buyer doesn't like my response, I don't give a 💩 . This planned response has worked fine for me, serious buyers make fair offers, and pretenders always disappear.

I have promoted since the day Promoted started. Back then, a small percentage made a big difference. Today, it is a necessity. Ebay is actually suggesting 14% on some items. A few years into the future that may become the norm. 😅
@johnathin006189218 сағат бұрын
Despite what some KZbin eBay "experts" say, for some types of items using Promoted is practically necessary if you want to sell anything. So-called "hot items" like new iPhones may not require it, but most items do, especially media, clothes and collectibles. I promote everything at 2-3%, it works, I despise it and whoever came up with Promoted can kiss my behind... but I guess it is just another cost of doing business.

Back to 100% positive feedback. No thanks to ebay. The zero feedback buyer had left a positive comment with the negative feedback. Customer service sucks for us common sellers. I had more hoops than ever to jump through to get the callback. Whenever I hear the roosters, chickens, or parrots in the background, I know this is going nowhere. I ended up requesting a revision from the buyer. Around a week later, it was changed to a neutral. Everything from the original feedback was erased, with the new neutral feedback and a new similar comment. It also said "revised".

eBay charges fees and taxes on entire price including shipping. They changed that over a decade ago when Sellers would put $5 for a $50 item but put the shipping as $50. The buyer would pay the same $55 but the Seller wouldn’t have to pay the higher selling fee. eBay caught on. Today, with everyone pushed to put “Free Shipping” most newbie Buyers have no idea what it truly costs to ship, especially coast to coast with the newest Postage hikes. We’re supposed to be as Amazon Prime- but there’s no way I can ship across country next day or two. We don’t have warehouses in every major city. Peace.

I had one of those the other day. I accepted an offer, and it took them a while to pay. But it never did show up in the awaiting payment area. I think it may be an instance where (a while back) they said somethings will remain active even if someone accepts an offer. I don't remember them giving any specifics on why something will remain active. Maybe these people have a history of nonpayments or cancellations.

This seller has other listings with somewhat reasonable shipping, which leaves a few explanations. 1. A typo 2. They do not really want to sell it for $80 on auction and so they put a crazy high shipping price to get the price they really want. The item first sold on October 3 for $104, so either the seller cancelled, the buyer cancelled when he/she saw the shipping price or the buyer never paid or they have another set. 3. They are trying to make their listing look like a good deal, hoping a buyer won't notice. 4. They chose USPS Priority instead of USPS ground advantage, but even Priority should only be about $60. 5. The explanation by @frankliningramjr.4651

When receiving a call back from ebay, we "common" sellers often hear roosters or other birds in the background. That's when we know the issue we are calling about is probably going nowhere. Sounds like concierge has a 98% success rate. The rest of us are lucky to a receive 25% success rate. I know, if we had only gone to Vegas a few years ago....... I would be willing to pay extra to hear a voice without a foriegn accent, and no roosters or other birds near the ebay rep.

Good evening Joe. Sometimes a seller can get an offer from a buyer he promises to make deal with. In order to keep others away, some add a ridiculous shipping charge. Once the person buys it, he can then change it. Unfortunately, it's irritating to those who want to buy it.

any chance that seller meant to have $ 28.50 as the shipping and messed up with the placing of the decimal point? About 19 years ago I meant to have $ 50.00 for shipping and handling and inserted the decimal point in wrong spot when typing and it came out as $ 500.00. Ebay removed it for excessive shpping and handling. I was in shop Rite today and saw they have egg nog on sale now and thought about you. How about getting egg nog and having a drink in next week's video? You used to drink gatorade, too, a lot of us liked that, too.

I had the craziest thing happen this week. USPS stated I overpaid for a shipping label by 1.70, and they refunded that amount. Ebay is the one who told me of this overage. It was funny. They said I could dispute this or do nothing. Obviously, the dispute option is for shortage charges, not overage refunds like I had. Crazy right?

Joe, I hope you call Ebay concierge about the topic you mentioned, You'r disappearing best offer sale. That is a real strange one. Accepting a best offer on a dog item. Maybe you should sell in collectibles vintage hub caps or something?

I found him. he is what I call a "lazy seller", has not learned how to sell = his listings are very unprofessionally written = very little in descriptions , Some small items with reasonable shipping and many small items with fairly high shipping compared to other sellers with similar items. He reminds me of my late brother whose attitude is "if they don't like the way I list the stuff, don't buy it".. He complained that he couldn't sell stuff on ebay and quit.

The seller with the high shipping is making a smart move. Ebay transaction fees are calculated on the whole sum of the sale including the cost of shipping. If the seller gets a return on this item, the seller gets to keep the shipping.
@newtongirl24307 күн бұрын
If it is an INAD, the seller has to refund all if the money. If not, the seller can refund 50% of shipping.

For $285 they would do a chargeback to get it all back. And they'd get it and the seller would get a $20 punishment.

Liz Morton of the site ValueAddedResource reported this earlier in the past week. She wrote, “There have also been multiple reports that an intentional feature change (allowing items with offers accepted to remain active until/unless a buyer pays for the item) may not be functioning as intended, with buyers apparently not receiving messages informing them their counter-offer has been accepted and they need to pay to complete the transaction,” among other issues and problems buyers and sellers are currently having with offers on ebay.

Ebay just refused to remove a negative feedback. A new buyer received my inexpensive item that was damaged in transit. From the pic, it was beyond repair. I refunded the small amount rather than paying to have it returned to me. All was good at that time. Two weeks later, he negs me. Why not two weeks earlier? I believe it was a "nag" message, to leave feedback, that prompted this. The negative was accompanied with a message that appeared positive. Dosen't this contradict the neg?

Knowing this item might cause issues with a buyer... If possible, I would have contacted the buyer and asked them what kind of vehicle they intend to put these on. Hopefully the buyer will respond right away and then you can make a decision. I sell high-tech items and often contact the buyer to make sure they know what they're buying.
