Schroth won't lead to any permanent reduction in the curve but can help with reducing pain and improving posture.

So you saying extension ex progress the scoliosis or doing it has no effect and the muscle imbalance between the two side when doing extensions increase the hump or has no effect so extenstion is forbidden or what? Btw Thanks for these glorious information
@DerekLee4 ай бұрын
Scoliosis progression is due to the front of the spine growing faster than the back of the spine. Primarily the disc wedge and to a lesser extent the vertebrae. This basically puts the thoracic spine into extension. Scoliosis results from the body trying to manage this extension. So, extension exercises can make it worse. kzbin.info/www/bejne/qYaUf3l-gdd3e9k

Does anyone know the latest research on this? I have hypokyphosis of the thoracic spine( loss of thoracic curvature and my primary curve is in the thoracic region. I have terrible neck pain as my spinal curves are reversing the other way around. Does anyone know how to fix flattening of the spine? This is agony!
@DerekLee4 ай бұрын
If the thoracic hypokyphosis is rigid, it's a difficult fix. If there is flexibility, then specific exercises can make a difference but has to address neck alignment too. Just search PubMed for more research.

Pinched nerve, numbness in my feet, sciatica. At this point, a local neurosurgeon says that I have two options for surgery. Fusion of L4 to L5 or fusion from T12 to L4. I’ve not scheduled surgery because I’m not ready. I’m thinking of going back to conservative care.. I’m at 27 degrees. Thank you for this wonderful video.

Amazing! I am 62yrs young and have a severe set of multiplanar curves….I live in constant pain. It’s worse where my lower ribs rub and grind into my upper pelvic crest. Lumbar, thoracic and lordotic curves…..I fantasize what relief from all this bio mechanical constriction would feel like. I wonder if I would be a possible candidate for spinal tethering…..or am I too old? I was also born without a right hip structure and have had multiple reconstructive surgeries with blessedly miraculous success. I am very active and try to pretend there’s no pain. But the truth is every step is a choreographed one and I find that managing constant pain is very tiring. Thank you for the caring research inquiries you share with us.

Dr. Lee, i spoke to Dr. Antonacci’s spinal fusion friend (Dr.Geck) and he said that with a growing spine the risk of it breaking are high and that he recommends me to get fusion. He said that he has had to correct the ASC surgery before in growing spines. Here Dr. Antonacci says its a 3% chance that it would break. Im not sure to believe. Dr. Geck seemed that i should not get the ASC method but to go with his. I do not want to make a mistake, but what do you think? I am 16 and almost skeletally mature and want to stay away from fusion but I’m not sure what is the best option. I would be grateful to hear from you.

This is strange what she explained about the planks.. a left sided plank feels very bad on my lumbar curve right away. At the Schroth therapy i was, they also made me do it, just to demonstrate that it isn't right. Maybe it depends on the severity of the curve, or i don't know...
@hagitberdishevsky68218 ай бұрын
Hi, you can do on both sides and it's for fitness purposes therefore it's recommended to work in a symmetric way.
@escapelina8 ай бұрын
@@hagitberdishevsky6821 Yes, thank you, everyone says that. But a left plank isn't good for me. It feels wrong the moment I do it. I actually did it with a therapist and she agreed, my curves doesn't look good as I do the left side plank (my scoliosis is pretty severe, s-shaped). It depends a lot I guess on the curve pattern.

Hi Hagit, so happy to discover you and Thanks for your demo! However, I can’t help but thinking that this is very confusing -similar to the previous comments re:side planks. I was clearly instructed by my scroth therapist in Los Angeles, that side plank for right thoracic c-shape is and SHOULD ONLY be performed with the left (concave) side towarss the ground and the convex (right) side up in the air with the right hand forming the “teapot” on the right shoulder.. having seen your demo here I asked my current Schroth therapist (now in Europe) and he said the same like the one from LA -that the convex is ALWAYS up in order to open up and stretch the concave, which again is opposite to what you said and demonstrated? I am really curious about your thoughts on that , Best

Thank you for these interviews Dr. Lee. I am a young adult with scoliosis, trying to determine weather surgery is worth it in the long run. Do scoliosis correction surgeries increase risk of disc herniation? Also, do the metal screws weaken the vertebrae?
@escapelina11 ай бұрын
I would add that pain in adults with scoliosis is not the only issue. The progression of the curves that leads to pressure on the organs and decrease of pulmonary function is a major thing to worry about. So, slowing down the progression of the curve as much as possible should also be a priority. At least in cases with severe scoliosis.
