I ran both deconvolving actions, (object first, then stellar) then took the saved tiff into siril to stretch. But after I stretched, it made really ugly rainbow stripes running across the image. It only did this when stretched in siril, (graxperts stretch didn't show any) do you have any idea why this would happen?
@DeepSpaceAstro12 сағат бұрын
It's the difference between how the 2 programs apply the AutoStretch in view mode. It doesn't effect the data so when you start stretching in linear view in Siril, you shouldn't see that.

Thanks for this. I ran your new script on one of my Origin data sets, and it worked fine. I didn't change my Siril options at all, as I already had the default Bayer pattern set to BGGR, but with 'Get Bayer Pattern From Header' checked. Your script ran fine that way - just gave warnings there was no pattern in the header, and then used the default. A larger issue is that I have felt that I get better results with my Origin data by just stacking the lights and ignoring the calibration frames. And your script just confirmed that again. The script applies the calibration frames fine, and I had sometimes applied them manually myself previously. But when I applied them manually and in the one set I did so far with your script, I found that using the calibration frames just made the resulting image worse (in my judgement). It also takes a lot longer - your script took 25 minutes to process a fairly small data set (66 lights) on my PC; processing the same set without using the calibration frames took about 10 minutes. Certainly not an issue if the calibration improved the resulting image... but it seems to me that it doesn't do so. Is there perhaps something strange with the Origin calibration frames?
@DeepSpaceAstro2 күн бұрын
That very well could be. I reached out to Celestron before I created the script with some questions around the raw data. They confirmed that the lights are not calibrated when taken from the Origin (This is good). They also said the flat master file is not calibrated with the biases, and that it's on us to calibrate the flat with the bias. That last part was odd to me as the usual method is to stack the biases and use that to calibrate each in individual flat frame, and then stack those calibrated flat frames. The time increase you're experiencing is due to the inclusion of the calibration stacks.

Good to see some Origin data! Sad about the FITS headers, I'm really disappointed that they don't even include the bayer pattern. Even my DSLR has that info (granted it's not in FITS format, it's still there). The origin aside, Great video and great job processing!

I process both Origin data and data from other scopes regularly. I leave the Siril default Bayer pattern at BGGR, but I leave the option to get Bayer data from the header checked. That works fine for both Origin data and data from my other scopes without any need to change anything in Siril - Siril takes the pattern from the header if it is there, but uses the set default pattern if there is no pattern in the header. Of course, you would need to change the default pattern if you had data with no pattern in the header that used a different pattern; but I haven't had to process any data with no pattern in the header other than that from the Origin.

New to Siril and found your videos because of a link in one of the extra scripts on the website. Been watching them over the last few days so I have an overview of what I can do within Siril (don't use PS I have Affinity and Marketable). With the Recombine at the end of the video. I assume one could just use the final versions of starless and the stars that you have already fully fixed and stretched elsewhere in your full process. Finding the whole thing fascinating and now just need some clear nights to get enough data to make this worthwhile. 🙂 Thanks very much.

I stack and process my Seestar S50 images in Siril, but also like to use GraXpert. GraXpert allows you to save files in many formats -- including stretched or unstretched. It even allows you to save images from specific processes like Denoised, or Background Extracted. But I don’t see an option to save an image that includes all the processing you do in GraXpert. I'm confused about the best workflow to incorporate GraXpert and get the correct image type back into Siril for further processing.
@DeepSpaceAstro4 күн бұрын
So a couple of things. First, once you load your image you can run through all of the processes top to bottom, and then save the image. So it does save all of the processing that you've done. That's how it works in the stable release., the one without the deconvolution. Second, in this beta release with deconvolution, there's a bug where that doesn't happen. Once you decon non-stellar or stellar, you need to save, then open that saved image, and decon stellar or non-stellar, then save that image. If you're going back into Siril afterwards, save as a 32-bit fit, with 'Save Stretched' unchecked.

An issue I have when stacking is that the final stacked photo is way off center and not showing the jellyfish nebula. Is there any solution for that?
@DeepSpaceAstro4 күн бұрын
If it's off center, then it probably wasn't on center when you imaged it. Open up a few of the individual images spread across the session, set the view to AutoStretch, and see if the object is on center.
@Death-Sickle4 күн бұрын
@ I’m currently capturing IC 443 and the final images for each session are with the Jellyfish’s legs. But when stacked the center for the images is outside the nebula. I’m sorry if this is worded poorly.

@@Death-Sickle Yeah I understand, that's why I suggested you open the individual images and look at the position

I took multiple shots at different exposure times when I shot the Orion Nebula. Can I just dump all of those light files and darks for each exposure into the same stack? Or do I need to create different images for each exposure time?
@DeepSpaceAstro4 күн бұрын
You can, but I wouldn't recommend it. Having different exposures can cause an issue with the rejection algorithm . Pixels will be different between the different sets of exposures so it wouldn't accurately determine what the final pixels should be during the stacking.
