Rich. many thanks for this one and all the others you make. they are so detailed and informative and really helpful. i have a question regarding filters like the Askar Color Magic Super Duo-Narrowband D1 (H-a/O-III) and D2 (S-II/O-III) set. can you maybe explain how to use this set to it's fulleset with siril. is it possible? i mainly refer to the SII data- how to extract and use it. many thanks for all the hard work
@DeepSpaceAstro
@DeepSpaceAstro 9 сағат бұрын
I'm not sure if the SII could be extracted. That might be a better question to ask in the Siril forums. I'm thinking with an OSC the SII would be too close to the Ha in the spectrum. Maybe use the Extract Ha only script for the D2 and use that as the SII, then blend it in to your liking? I'm just spit balling though. Not really sure, sorry.

I think I jumped into this one a bit too soon (hadn't watched the GHS Transformation stretch video you eluded to in a beginner video I had watched earlier) but I took lots of notes and am getting the feel for it.

Can you tell me if you are using a mono camera and which one? What guide tube ? I guess you need to use special filters (LRGB and OIII and Ha) with the Hypersyar, which one are you using ? All these questions because I am serioulsy considering having a very similar set up as yours. Many thanks, clear skyes

No I'm not imaging in mono. This is an OSC. PlayerOne Poseidon-C. No guiding when I'm using the Hyperstar. If you visit my Community tab here on KZbin, I have details for each image I post, including the ones in this video.

Question - Would I want to use SiriLic when I have images using different filters? For example, I used my 533MC Pro camera on a 135mm Rokinon; one set of data was through an IDAS NBZii filter, the other set of data was through an Optolong L Pro filter. Not much data was collected, but it was collected on the same night. My guess is yes, use SiriLic.
@DeepSpaceAstro
@DeepSpaceAstro 2 күн бұрын
You could, but depending on what you're after I would stack each individually and blend them together in Siril.

Looking forward to comparing how my M8 image (4 nights of data) comes out using this method compared to when I just threw all of the files by type in single folders and edited the resulting stack in Siril and PS.

Well, add to the list of fans Rich. Happy to have this stacking and processing program available to the masses of us who cannot afford some of the other ones out there. In this video, you show that Sirilic will combine the multiple nights of lights,darks,etc. Will Sirilic combine ONLY the light frames from the various nights if that’s all we collected? One of the scripts in Siril DOES allow this. Or must we have all the calibration frames as well? Keep it up, man. This is great!
@DeepSpaceAstro
@DeepSpaceAstro 3 күн бұрын
Thanks so much! SirilIC will only process what you give it. So if you just addin the lights, it'll stack them without requiring calibration frames.

Rich, thank you so much for these videos. They're awesome for beginners like myself. Question for you - can you do the deconvolution on just the star mask and use something else to sharpen the starless image? Or is that just a waste of time?
@DeepSpaceAstro
@DeepSpaceAstro 5 күн бұрын
Thanks! So deconvolution can help with the DSO as well. Next time you run it, don't just watch the stars, watch the what effect it has on the object. With that said, I've haven't ran decon on the star masks, but nothing wrong with experimenting with things like that. There are a few different ways to sharpen. I usually take the starless into PS and use the clarity function in camera raw, but you could use wavelets, AstroSharp, unsharp, etc. and see what works best for you.
