I come back to this magic every once in a while. I was too young to get into starlite so my dad drove us down to the calgary mac ballroom so we could see them on this tour.

I love that they decided to go ahead and do the concert as a free livestream instead of cancelling. It's classy. But it seems like the missing crowd is sucking the energy from them too. I get it, I imagine I'd feel the same if I was amped to do a live show and they told me no one was going to be there to listen to us.

I wonder why Kotipelto was struggling so much with the high notes in 2009 and even 2008 but in 2010 he actually sounded cleaner... then we all know what happened in 2011...

I cant remember whether he said it during the show or when I was chatting with him after the show on the bus but he was really sick and a doctor told him to cancel the show but he was like fuck it we're in Canada let's do this thing hahaha. Watching this now I can see how sick he was, he's clearly really tired and lacking energy big time.

Awesome this even exists, I was telling my daughter about the "fire show" at the Starlite years ago- we all pointed at the ceiling trying to get the bands attention while Jens wailed away - and searched it here expecting to find maybe a track, not the entire show. Bravo!

Power Metal Transcended. Has any other band in the genre even come close? Every other big power metal act has legions of copycat bands behind them, but no one's been able to come close to Blind Guardian. The closest thing to Music Perfected we'll ever get. It will be a sad day when they retire. I love this band so much, I cant even describe it. Thanks for posting this.
