I always loved how this track essentially blended the two main Dalek themes from the RTD era SEAMLESSLY, as if they were always meant to flow together this way. It starts with the buildup of the Series 1-2 theme, then crescendos perfectly into the Series 4 theme. Incredibly done. This is why Akinola will never be able to top Gold.

The fact that this eventually turns into the Shepherd’s Boy speaks volumes. It really shows the Doctor’s whole emotional Time War journey through music. Murray Gold is perhaps the greatest thing to ever happen to Doctor Who.

Imagine if you will. The New Time War. The doctor is down, all their gadgets & tricks used up fighting an army of true monsters. Not any form of life. Just monsters. Their leader standing over the doctor waiting to make them watch as their universe gets conquered. Then. Ships arrive. From all over the universe. The human, Time Lords, Silurians, Sontarans, The Slitheen Family, Cybermen, Weeping Angels & even the Darleks so up. They united once against the doctor to put them in the Pandorica. Now they have united to save their greatest enemy as the doctor is their only hope for the universe. One by one they launch their army's, Darleks & cyberman fighting side by side destroying The Husks (that's what I call the lifeless monsters), Sontarans blasting away. The Silurians fighting truly united with humans to save their planet. Weeping Angels using their power to teleport the troops behind enemy lines while some go looking for food amongst the chaos, unable to be seen by the enemy with all the just in the air from the constant explosions. The Time Lords free The Doctor & give them some advanced technology that could help win the battle. The main Villians (who has Cosmic powers) is looking on in horror as his army is being evenly matched. He yells "this is not my design!"... "the universe shall act as I write it!" This Villians name... Chris Chibnall (I don't know if I spelt it right but tbh I don't really care). It's spelt in an alien way though. The doctor dose their thing and finds a way to stop the evil entity hellbent on destroying this universe (😏). The whole time those goes on... this and so many other amazing Doctor who sound tracks play.

i’d like to consider the Shepherd’s Boy motif here to be a representation of the birth of the Twelfth Doctor. i would argue that the decision to save Gallifrey is what gave birth to 12, in a way. “I’m the Doctor, and I save people.”
