I like how you say to use stainless screws, but yet these guys are running drywall screws. What about windows? What do you do around them?

You recommend I trim for multiple horizontal boards but almost all samples on website doesn’t have this.

My concern is having any strong or heavy wind lifting the perimeter tiles where fascia is installed! Any comments or suggestions about this? I'm doing about a 900 sq. ft. area over existing patio. If this becomes a problem, is there a way of securing the fascia piece to existing patio?

@ 1:04 i noticed that if you don’t pre-drill the screw holes, your likely to break the vinyl trim as seen @ 1:04. Pretty brittle stuff

I thought that you only need one screw in the center to fasten it, not on the ends as he said.That way it can expand in either direction????

Are there color matched screw plugs for the caribbean blue deck boards? An, no routed the entire length of the board. That's something I didn't know. I wish the caribbean blue was available on Columbus profile, but I will have to route for the fastenters since I don't want visible screws. Don't think I could get that L-shaped groove carved in to the Cortes board Unless I could fit a dremel blade in somehow. Would be a pain, but I could possibly do it, but then would need to get some sealant inside where I cut. I want to make a small landing outside an exterior door but need to figure out the measurements and how many boards I would need. Again, I wish fascia board was available in the caribbean blue. Is it just an unpopular color? I suppose worst case I can use primed PVC boards and then paint them for some of the edges and for riser covers on the stairs. For people who aren't using boards on the sides, it would be nice to get some sort of end caps for the Magellan and Columbus boards. Although, I suppose it would look nicer to use boards on the edge and miter them to hide the edges, but not everyone will want to do that. Shoutout to Richard Lam for answering my e-mails and giving me some info on the router bit size (1/4") and letting me know that some of the boards are not available in the caribbean blue.

Can this be installed directly over joists of a deck, or does this need decking installed below it for structural integrity?

I agree . They are hard and screws fail. I ended using a larger drill bit and then worked just fine . Wish they would have just made holes on the rail to post diagrams . I used a drill bit to make holes on cardboard diagram and sort of worked

Not as easy as it looks. Those posts are hard to drill pilots into. I went through several $9 bits designed for metal drill into these things. The 7/64 pilot is too small for the self-drilling screws they provide and they are prone to strip. I changed to hex-head self-drilling screws to make installation much more manageable. I really dislike the screws they provide, they have flat ends, and are unable to find purchase in the pilot holes you drilled. Very difficult to screw in straight. The paper templates are not centered along the fold so if you follow the directions your posts will be off-center. You must mark a center line on the post and the template if you want a centered post. Learned this the hard way.

Why are they open at the ends. Bees in our area will be a problem.
