Good sound. I just bought a 2008 exactly like yours. Any pros/cons you’d share with me on your experiences ride wise and mechanically speaking? The ‘08 has the 6 speed on the narrow chassis, not a huge concern of mine with my first HD. I’ve owned several vintage Goldwings & loved them. Thanks.

@Mallet Adventures. ok thanks it was very deep in both crossings in November. My rig made it through ok. Chevy Trail Boss. Thank you
@H.pylori2 жыл бұрын
Maybe for you not as exciting to make the crossing, but I travel solo with a stock JK Wrangler and have never attempted the crossing. How deep is the water now? From your video, this looks doable. My Wrangler is my daily driver and I can't afford to have water seep into the axels or engine. Thanks for showing the present status of the crossing.
@malletadventures.85542 жыл бұрын
This video very recent within past month. Maybe 1 foot deep at-least. No problem for a stock vehicle. There is another water crossing a little further down and appears to be from dammed up water under the railroad bridge. It’s atleast 3’ deep. 2 weeks ago I was there and luckily someone created a bypass because it’s super long and deep and bad. The bypass is a life saver because the normal way was too sketchy. I can’t afford vehicle issues either. Good luck.

Does your Tacoma have a lift? I'm wondering if I can make it through this pass on a stock 4x4 tacoma...
@malletadventures.85542 жыл бұрын
In this pic it has the OME 2” Lift. you can make it. Don’t have steps, they hang too low. Sliders would be good to have. You can easily stack some rocks here to easily get you through there. I’ve seen other non lifter compact SUV get through there. Might have been Isuzu or something. Just take your time with stacking rocks be the worse scenario. I went with friends and none of them had lockers, and one Tacoma friend had the Tacoma steps on the side and we had to stack rocks to help him get through.

just purchased a 2013 nc700x. I think people get the wrong idea when refering to it as automatic. better thought of as an automated manual. no torque converter and not like a cvtthe engine is connected directly to the wheel without any slipageso revs change with speeds directly far nicer than a car type auto, which would be awful on a motorcycle

Hey- can you comment on the reliability of the DCT? Stuck in gear at all? Broken anything?... Nice video... Thanks.
@malletadventures.85546 жыл бұрын
david Snipes Hi David, references reliability of the DCT. Never had any issues. Even if you shut the bike off in gear it will automatically switch it to neutral to avoid trying to start in gear. Never shifting issue. It sounds noisy sometimes shifting but it’s been working flawlessly. What I’ve learned is Drive mode perfect for easy relaxing riding and no need for quick throttle response. Sport mode is perfect for high traffic very responsive throttle response. In Drive mode it’s always in a high gear which means you maybe have to paddle shift to lower gear if you need a burst of power for passing or something. I could full throttle it and it would automatically shift but in Drive feels like a lot of work. Sport mode feels always ready for instant power
@malletadventures.85546 жыл бұрын
david Snipes Hi David. Only weird issue I’ve had compared to a manual transmission is I’ve had this bike shift gears in a turn and sometimes that feeling of down shifting or up shifting while in that turn. Only issues as a rider but you can shift in manual shift mode as well to avoid that. The bike has such an amazing balance I feel like I have to force it to lean to make tight turns. Maybe due to the super low Center of gravity on the bike. Anyway, good luck if you making a purchase. I had a buyer for this bike because I was going to get a BMW but I passed in the deal because this is a perfect bike for me and use it for commuting to work and all our satellite offices.

So you can adjust gear that you are in, in any mode? How is the down shifting in manual mode in the curves or riding it on a track? Does it shift smooth fast enough up and Down in manual mode to ride on a track or in the curves? Does it feel like it slips much in each gear or really snappy shifts up and down?
@malletadventures.85546 жыл бұрын
dry509 Hey. Yes, you can paddle shift in any mode. I’ve never ran this on a track or in excessive racing scenario. Just has 800 miles on it so just breaking it in. Plus not going to do track or racing anyway since I have to much to loose at this point. Why I sold my sport bike years ago because I couldn’t keep it under 100. I feel it shifts with paddle shifting immediately. The transmission was designed after the same design of Indi racing cars. I don’t feel any slipping either but then I’m not racing it. I’ve full throttled to get in the highway and passing and no issues.

The NC is a great and very likeable bike, especially with DCT. I hope one day Honda will offer a version with 15 or 20 more hp. With the current engine I got too often to its limits in the Alps, the reason why I exchanged it for a slightly beefier bike.

The Stonegate Roadrunner I mean, I find it's power to be more than enough over here in the US. You really don't need break neck speed in the twisties anyway in my opinion. It's a great road for my jeep and RZR. It calls for 4x4 only and open for great camping as long as you are the only one there. It's 7 miles down a sand wash. Depends how your pop up does in sand and on woops on the trail. One of my favorite places to go.
@tim891318 жыл бұрын
+Pete The Hammer Sounds great. I usually tow my popup with a lifted Wrangler and sometimes surprise myself with where I can drag that thing. Only thing I can't really get through is too much rock crawling or anything requiring too high of a clearance. Sandy washes usually aren't much of an issue. I have bogged down at a cove on the west side of Lake Mohave and had to winch out, but that was more poor planning on my part than anything. I will probably scout it out one of these weekend soon. Thanks for the info. Is there anywhere nearby on the 93 to refill on supplies? Usually need to hit civilization once or twice during the week for more ice, firewood, beer, etc.
