You can just use the ," Chad Ferguson, CAT Fish Wrap snell. Super Easy, and holds Monster Cats just fine.

Beautiful pattern ma man! Been photographing dragon and damsel adults all summer. Those crappy in the pond are fer sure gorging on nymphs in the shallows.

I have had a lot of success with a pattern like this tied with a 3mm bright orange tungsten bead and no legs. On a day with broken cloud where the light changes a lot the fish chase them very aggressively. The faster the retrieve the better.

Can I ask what brand varnish you are using? I’ve just tied this and put some of the wife’s nail varnish on it only for the rubber band to instantly dissolve😅

Thanks for sharing Mak! These beetles are as much fun to tie as they are to fish. I particularly like to use them in shallow water where the fish are spooky and a subtle presentation the best. No need to "match the hatch" as the beetles are always on the menu. I'll often fish the beetle as an indicator with an ant on a short dropper just to give the fish the choice. 😁 Take care Mak!

When I was learning to tie flies a professional fly tier was showing me. He said he was making $18,000 per year. I asked him how many he could tie in an hour. He said 5 or 6. Poo I could tie that many, then he added dozen!😂🎣

Your videos are so enjoyable. I have struggled with squirmy worm materials. They literally get destroyed by most glues. The thread bed and that thread trick to pull it thru the head is a game changer. Now I can't wait to tye these now. Soooo many color options with different beads and worm material. A very interesting video, thanks for sharing it with us. I tie a very similar "fly" however I just use a red rubber band because it costs virtually nothing catches plenty of fish and it's very durable.
