Before you buy a new motor, try bending the fins away from the grated housing. That was all I had to do. I had the same exact problem. Just bend the fins back to where they belong. They must be weak and affected by the heat.

That panel that's infront of the inducer motor did you leave the gas line on and just push it to the side or did you disconnect it?
@raymedinaj8055
@raymedinaj8055 Жыл бұрын
I unscrewed the top all across the top of unit it came up enough to pull out the panel and slide one way or the other. But mine had hard pipe line all the way . But if have flexible gas line you should have more play.

I guess I was expecting to see how to get that blower out of there safely, what cleaner was used to really cut the sticky grime and about the same thing on the evaporator coil...how did you get into like that and what kind of cleaner is safe for the coil, etc. Not really any useful information here for me.

It's kind of a wonder that blower motor didn't conk out. Do they not run any filters in that system?
@ArcticairLLC
@ArcticairLLC 2 жыл бұрын
It probably shortened the motors life being that dirty. The filter was brand new so it might’ve not had a filter at all for 5 years. Thanks for watching.

Not sure why you checked multiple ground locations on the ac. Would it not make more sense to check ground at the chassis grounding lug and only check it one time? Good video, thank you.

@ArcticairLLC

The evap coil didn’t look all that bad, I thought it was going to be plugged up like the blower wheel. It took 5 min to lift the top off and spray it with the hose and also clear the condensate pan.

Just curious why you didn’t check your windings when you had the wires were off after checking for a short you would’ve saw you either had an open winding or bad wire to compressor, start wire could’ve been touching common and shorted out, good job
@ArcticairLLC
@ArcticairLLC 2 жыл бұрын
I started checking the windings at 3:07 but didn’t follow thru, it’s a good idea to check the terminals first before resetting the breaker. I’ll do that next time. Thanks for watching.

@lees.4084
@lees.4084 Жыл бұрын
@Octane4Life And there's ECMs that are well over $200... And not all PCM are variable speed. My X13 is fixed speed. Speed can only be adjusted by changing the jumper terminal on the motor. But let's say you replace a fixed speed $200 ECM with a PSC that costs $100. How long til the efficiency savings allow you to break even? I'm considering a PSC swap because I'm on my 3rd motor module in the past 2 years. Just the correct module is $200+ each, and takes nearly a week to arrive. My motor spins freely, and passes the resistance checks. I even have one of the inline surge protectors installed, and still have module failures. I'm considering just buying a PSC, and next time the ECM flakes out, swap over, and hopefully not have to worry about it again for a long time.
@octane4life683
@octane4life683 Жыл бұрын
@@lees.4084 Yes there's 3 types of ECM. Constant airflow (variable speed) constant torque ( x13) and constant speed (inducers and condenser fan ecms). If people have these things, you gotta pay to play.

I’ve started doing the same last year. Had a Nordine package that needed PCM motor that was kind of unique and only OEM could be a direct replacement. It was 2-2.5 weeks waiting time for that motor to arrive plus ~$600. So, installed PSC for $90, plus a contactor. It’s been a year and that store owner is happy with his HVAC operation. Now, I do the same swaps almost everytime when I see bad ECM motor.
