I know this is over half a decade ago, but I still think if Bruce comes to shelve pleasure Beach will upgrade the horses if not the track as well, there were plans to replace steeplechase with a completely different coaster at one point, but I’m convinced that was before Nick Thompson encouraged/managed to convince S&S to build the modern version.

I have very vivid memories of that absolute bastard "terrorizer". When I first went on it back in the 90s. I was tall enough, but probably not as big as recommended. Lol. N I had to be pinned to the seat by my mum because I started slipping through the safety bars. 😭😭😭

Well the state itself is questionable and honestly failed this man and his family with the more than lax non existent inspection laws that don't require state or city inspection I believe. The state allows the business to conduct their own inspections even for these type of structures?...lmao this really gets messy if you comb through the details of this situation. The sight itself for this Park was more than likely strategically picked by the owner and designer from jump...no third party official city or state required inspections was dude's dream... now I gotta give this boys family the side eye to a degree but I'll keep my thoughts to myself on that tip...this has never sat with my spirit or made complete sense that it played out the way it did...some how after years these guys went from 2nd xegree murder charges to if I'm not mistaken they were let out and charges dropped for whatever reasoning, I hope the guy doesn't design more death traps in his freedom.. you can't make this stuff up.😮

That boy's death was only the beginning of the end for Schlitterbahn. A ride built to breath new life into the park instead brought about its fateful demise. Much like the Son Of Beast at Kings Island spelled death for it's parent company, the Roller Coaster Corp. Of America, the Verruckt waterslide at Schlitterbahn Kansas City unexpectedly sealed the park's doom.

I've been reading that the family received a $20 million dollar settlement only because of the preferential treatment that the Dad, Scott Schwab, got because he's a Kansas politician

This is just my shitty opinion, but seeing several of the 'test runs' go horribly wrong, this should have been torn down and recalculated or scrapped altogether.

I think the crazy park owner announced the minimum age of 14 before opening but did away with it once open.

I know this video is 3 years old but watching it brings back so many memories the first and only time i went to pleasure island i went on the ride @7:06 and the guy at the end of the hall scared me because i though it was a real guy and i went on that coaster that went over the water and i do regret not going on boomerang because it looked and looks amazing but ever since i went to Alton towers i have loved roller coasters. I do miss this park but after covid i am planning to get into the park but not breaking in,just because i have wanted to do it for ages but haven't had the chance and my mum who lived in cleethorpes at the time used to go to pleasure island when it was a vacant plot of land and she says there used to be zip lines(btw i have a lot to say )and she says that she saw the whole park get built from start to finish, she told be that around the side of boomerang she used to sneak in to the park for free

The age limit was never actually enforced. The engineer who saw the slide right before it opened told the owners the age limit should be 16. The owners decided 14 was sufficient and the night before they opened to the public, the age limit was completely taken away.

There have been so many unnecessary deaths at the hands of someone trying to push a schedule or deadline that only benefits themselves. I’ve seen it the most in construction.

Just found your video... such nostalgia! We had a caravan there from 1977 - about 1990. I worked on the fair, before Flamingoland became a theme park! (I worked on the Hook-a-Duck stall, from age 11!!! Back in the day when we didn't have laws, lol). All we had for rides were; dodgems, about 7 stalls, helter skelter, 2 little roundabouts and a beautiful carousel. Oh, and the ghost train. My mum worked in the Pottery, which was in the old coach house up at the top of the zoo. That changed over time to be a craft centre, and I worked in there when I was 16+, and I engraved names on glasses and painted names on mugs for people. Eventually, they did away with that, as I guess it didn't make enough money. My favourite thing in the whole park was the Haunted Castle - when it was first built, there was evening entertainment, like dinner dances and shows. There was a haunted walk, in part of the castle, with full on scares, like the floor would just give way and be all squishy. Many a sprained ankle, I think! That building turned into a burger bar and then an amusement arcade, which was a bit sad. :/ Eventually, Robert Gibb decided to pull everything in house and do his own rides and attractions, and thus was born the Flamingoland we know today. The first major ride I remember was a full loop roller coaster, which blew us all away! (After the adrenalin rush of the dodgems and the helter skelter, you can imagine.... :D ). The main hall used to house bars and restaurants, and there was a Caravaners disco every Friday/Saturday nights. As a young teenager, I got up to much mischief in those years. I have so many stories of flamingoland, it was great watching your vid and bringing back memories! I'll just leave you with this one... I am a couple of years older than Robert Gibb... I think his sister is about my age. All I remember of him was that he was a really snotty little red-haired kid with a terrible attitude - he used to come into our gift shop and demand things because 'my dad owns all this'. We had to educate him that it didn't work like that. I laugh when I see how he turned out, and that he's running the place really well. :) Sorry for long ramble... got a bit distracted by memory lane there for a mo! :D

Maybe lower the music in the intro a little? It fits the channel, and I like the idea but the first notes just BLARED on lol Edit- this was really good. Good work.
