Canzone stupenda, sono tra i migliori gruppi della storia ma tanto sottovalutati.

2 gems in a musical world of jewels. Must be the most underated band ever. Its a shame there was a rift within the band. They could have been HUGE.

@5thpostulate874 I did clean this fabulous version a little bit. So it's less noisy and has a bit more dynamics. Still not HiFi but if you like to take a listen please mail me.

Celia: "Yes, Tom O'B was very much influenced by the Mr Fox rhythm section. I was the keyboard player. Wasn't very good at it, but then I had to play on a harmonium powered by a vacuum cleaner motor! Tom o'B was the penultimate version of Trees, a Barry Clarke composition."

So Barry Clarke wrote this song and it's not a version of the old folk song of the same name? I've been trying to understand why other Tom of Bedlam videos on You Tube have different lyrics to this video. It's a different song isn't it? Anyone have the lyrics to the Trees Tom of Bedlam?

I listened to this track a hell of a lot when I was writing my book Project Firebird, which is about... well, the last night on earth. Soundtrack to the movie, if it ever happens. 😀

I first heard After The Day in 1971 on a compilation album - The Harvest Bag - and it blew me away. I then moved on to their albums and wasn't disappointed. I still love this song all these years later. BJH were hugely underrated and now seem to be forgotten except among those of us who were around at the time.

I don't know why KZbin didn't post this last time, but the choral music at the start is from the Offertorium of Pierre De La Rue's Requiem by the Capella Antiqua Munchen and Konrad Ruhland. It is 'available online'. Come on folks; people might want to know!

I stumbled upon the latest album "The Empathy Machine" when it got realeased, just by coincidence. I have a diverse taste in music but am not into progressive rock at all and had never heard of Chimpan A (and not even Magenta). Nevertheless I loved the album and bought it. Then I tried to find the first album on CD as well (yes, I like hardware) but it was not available. Almost as if they knew, they re-released the first album and I also immediately bought it. The combination of progressive rock, electronic, opera, ambient, soul, spoken works and more on these albums is so captivating, mesmerizing and touching. The way it all comes together to me is just an impressive feat of musical art!

The mellotron work on this early songs is purely genius. Why were they not as big as the Beatles? This music never gets old.

I first heard "once again", with friends in London at a party.......l was into Zep', Zappa, Arthur Brown, et al.... BJH, on first hearing stunned me......they were just different. l saw them at universities, theatres, even by the moat in the Tower of London........where they overanalyze their time and were told to get offstage by the guardsmen in scarlet and bearskins.........l loved Floyd, soft machine etc., but also BJH...........too many good memories.......thanks for reminding me.

When I was young listening to these songs about the elderly written by BJH, I was not much impressed. When I am now enough old listening to these same songs, I surprisingly find that BJH had written very good songs on the elderly which I shared much。

THE POET Here I sit watching the day out No-one beside me who may doubt All of the words that I could chose to say So listen, believe, or be gone from this day I need a friend to walk with me And sit in the shade of an old tree To think nothing much, just agree with my thoughts To say nothing much, never tell what I ought Watching the people pass by now They just don't know why or know how They don't seem to care about all that I've seen They just walk on by never knowing I've been Sitting up here where I'm wind blown Only to ask and to be shown Things that would make you believe what I say I'll tell you myself and I'll show you some day AFTER THE DAY The eyes of night march slowly by The last grain falls The kneeling man just sighs Protected by the one great wall Of coloured parts He probes his clouded mind If he takes a look around him Is there nothing left to see Is there nothing left at all After the day With trembling hands he wipes his eyes He tries to stand But does not feel the need The morning sun shines on The multicoloured cross Left standing through it all If he takes a look around him Is there nothing left to see Is there nothing left at all After the day If he takes a look around him Is there nothing left to see Is there nothing left at all After the day
