I enjoyed this. I was last at that spot in the Summer of 1972, a holiday with my parents, I was 14. Stayed in a small, terraced house in Commonmoor. Tiny little place, that fronted straight onto the road. I really enjoyed it. I was fascinated by this area, the old mine workings and the various natural stone formations and the Standing Stones. A magical place. I also didn't venture 'too' close to the Cheesewring. 😄

Super find, these mounds all around you look like destroyed pyramids, part of old world circuit board earth.
@jimdillinger77576 күн бұрын
Excellent find dude, its called a "Schumann Resonator", no electronic device in the world can function without one, there are many all over the world, there is one on the floor of Chartres Cathedral in France, the earth is an electric circuit board, they are part of the old worlds circuit board earth.

Nice vid Tim, very atmospheric in the mist. This place looks as if it's straight out of The Hound of the Baskervilles. Apparently there are long views of the River Dart from Combestone Tor, so maybe a second outing here when the weather is a bit clearer?.

@TurboTimsWorld12 күн бұрын
Nope not man made that's all nature, Dartmoor In Devon UK, so a Tor is a granite outcrop of rock that pokes out at the top of a hill that's common here in Devon, The softer soil gets blown away over millions of years and even the different layers in the rock formation hence the cracks, but here on Dartmoor you end up with these granite exposed hill tops, we call these Tors there are lots across Dartmoor, there is an annual event where students walk 10 OF the tors but this one ant Combestone you can drive to easily

Great vid Tim. What a fantastic spot, no idea why you don't like Exmoor when there are places like this. The walk back across the steps looked tricky, but on the plus side you didn't get wet!!. Nobody knows for certain how old the bridge is, some say it could date back to around 1400AD, But it is a designated Grade 1 listed building and a scheduled monument. Well, that's my nerdy bit done!.

I glad you asked; So you know when your chatting at tea break, (now Im not a Devon local I came from Kent, lived in Swindon) and everyone knows where a place was and none of them can find it again, as they built the North Devon Link Road (a bypass from the M5 to Bude) and that's the point the bypass was built and the old route to Bude was lost; But the Devon boys would pick up Summerset cider from around there and the black cat was a marker point on the run just like the Ace Cafe in London (although not a cafe) but you could get fuel, Now today that garage is full of old stock car parts AS FAR AS I"M TOLD, if you have a pre 1980's car there is parts stashed in there and these parts are not for sale until the owner has passed "and then see the boy if you want anything" he said to a friend of mine. Sorry if you didn't get the video I had aimed it at my workmates But good news having visited Black Cat I found Black Dog Village and also Black Cock Inn all in Devon all in the same area ! Video coming soon and promise to explain more! Thanks x

@@TurboTimsWorld You know if they opened that old garage up as a cafe (like the ace cafe) I bet bikers from all over would go there for a cuppa and a ride.

Well done Tim on finding it. Looks like a nice spot, perhaps another vid exploring the river there?. One old petrol pump to cater for passing traffic back in the days when there were fewer cars on the road I imagine.

Enjoyed that mate, you can't beat the sound and smell of steam, very atmospheric . Always liked that little line, lots to see and take in and the staff are decent, take time to answer questions, talk to kids, have a pic with them. Loved the posters, especially the come to "Sunny Devon" one, ironic on the day ?🌧☔ Also loved it when you became the local tourist information service at Staverton 😂 Looking forward to the next bit 😉

Bit murky again and Tim, your comments are fair. I've looked up stuff to find out more about where you go. But like you say, that's individual choice and everyone can do that. A lot of the places you end up I didn't know existed so it's part of the interest to do my own research on them.

Nice film Tim. I think that cross marks the tomb/grave of the man who got lost on the Moor some hundreds of years ago. The story is, that the weather was so bad that he killed and gutted his horse and crawled inside in an attempt to survive. Didn't work unfortunately. Amazing, the history from such a remote place.

when you say a mine to abbotsham cliffs is there another end (abbotsham end) to the mine or dose the mine just end under abbotsham that dose not petrude the cliff edge??
@TurboTimsWorld2 ай бұрын
No what I say it would be possible, there's a second video old ford house (that's ford the river not a capri) but this was one of my videos that I spent a lot of time to back story study,I had a story that there was a tunnel from Old Ford house (there's 2 old ford house one on the river bank Torrington road the other above it was a Zoo) so the info I came across was there was a smugglers tunnel from abbotsham to Biddeford, now Im not 100% sure BUT the bideblack from a coal map I found runs from east the water to abbotsham, The Blacksmith's pub under the railway, and wooder sugary opposite next to the Chinese run the other way but also news paper clips of old ford cottage show tunnels and the bideblack from there runs to abbotsham cliffs , If you go to Abbasham Cliffs you can see the Biddeblack in the cliffs on the beach and I do this in my old ford video. Thanks for watching and commenting, there are 2 ford houses in Bideford and one was a Zoo and having been down here 12 years now working with locals I'm building a story on the zoo. Thanks from TurboTim
