The Viking seems to make a puttering noise and a clacking sound. Is that coming from the engine, drive train, or mic? I am planning on buying one but worried about noise level.

They are noisy in comparison to other machines, but I will take the noise as it is an extremely reliable machine.

It would be interesting. I guess it all would boil down to traction and how wet the ground is. I was ok for power, but I had my hands full getting traction.

Hey I like your videos. I have a 2016 Viking and love it. I was looking at getting the Yamaha soft doors and back window. How is it holding up? Does tree limbs scratch it bad? Can you haul it on a open trailer?
@brandonjcorwin
@brandonjcorwin 7 жыл бұрын
Roddie the windows do get scratched a bit, but its to be expected. $400 vs $4000 for a hardtop I can replace them a few times and still be ahead. I do haul on an open trailer about 120 miles to camp and it does ok, mind you I keep an eye on it. I only leave it on in the winter, too dang hot in the summer!!! Last but not least thank you for the compliments, I have barely rode this year as we have been busy. I think I have only put about 65 miles on it since christmas. Just havent had time...
@roddiecurd3504
@roddiecurd3504 7 жыл бұрын
Do you close the windows when hauling? Someone said you should trailer it with the doors open but that seems like it would act like a parachute. Sorry I keep asking questions it is great to see someone that actually uses something.
@brandonjcorwin

Not a problem at all...I do trailer it with the doors zipped shut. I honestly worry more about the windshield than I do the soft top.

Ya IV tried a bunch of different combinations in the clutch set up. I'm in pa I do the same type of riding you do. Check out JBS there great people.. 18 gram primary greaseless weights I've used the orange secondary spring it's good if you're running a lot of mud and keep the RPM up but I don't like that for Woods riding so I use the stock secondary spring it keeps the rpm lower uses less fuel but make sure you get the slug kit for your wet clutch that's the first thing I did when I bought the machine yours might be burned up they're like 200 bucks when you go to take that off it's a left hand thread on the wet clutch drum make sure you get a new nut every time you take that off it's a stake down nut

I was wondering the same thing about the tires. Those stock Maxis Big Horn 2.0's are OK for a break-in period but a larger rim (14") and bigger (26"+) beefier, knobbier tires are a must on the Viking. The 686 CI has got a boatload of torque...it's just needs a firm grip, more clearance and you're damn near unstoppable :)

Gary ive had the ebrake adjusted everytime its been in for service. as far as the lift affecting the ride not at all, tires have made it a little more rough. The only thing that affected any handling was removing the rear swaybar to accommodate the lift. I dont ride at high speeds much so its not a big concern

I am 6'6" and I agree with you that overall it has plenty of room. I have aroun1650 miles on my Viking and I have had it about the same time as you. I agree that more power would be nice but it has yet failed to get me where I am going. I still have the stock tires and was wondering how the lift and bigger tires effected the ride. I like the windshield and was ready to get one however for the fact that you are nearly as tall as me I might end up with the same eye level problem. One last thing is ; Have you had any problem with your emergency brake not holding. I tried to adjust mine but I still can't get it to really grab as it should. Hey videos you put up.

jj bepp there are definitely times I wished it had a little more power but for the most part it does exactly what I need of it. As for stability you have to try really hard to roll it. I took a $15.00 waterbottle brack off one of my MTB and mounted it inside the rear roof of my 2015 Viking. it holds an EU Boom speaker perfectly. I use my Iphone, Pandora app and Bluetooth. Sounds great - all in I spent $215.00. inexpensive, great sound, remove it for security and charges off the cig-lighter (15 hours per charge. When im not on my viking, I simply remove it and use it in the house, boat wherever!

@brandonjcorwin
@brandonjcorwin 9 жыл бұрын
Eric D The radio is an SSV works. I actually just took it out and sold it as the reception was terrible, and the sound quality was ehhhhhhh. I actually just mounted a Kenwood marine head unit, with marine speakers which is 10 times better and less money invested! I also have a marine amp that I may throw in there too for the fun of it. Just a little worried about too much draw on the battery.

Cool! Thanks for the input. I saw in the accessory catalog that they offer a "second battery kit". I won't go that far, but some tunes would be nice. Out here in ID FM coverage is spotty at best, I will have to go with a satellite set up if anything.

Ryan Both are more than capable, I own the Viking, and my cousin owns the Teryx in these videos. The Viking has the ground clearance, and the Teryx has a little more power, but all in all very very good machines! The downside to both is they are a little wide, compared to some of the other offerings. That said this was the only solid instance of being truly stuck in our riding this summer!
