Sigue sigue sputnik were cyberpunks before the term existed. They were ahead of their time. Its a shame they didn't have better songs.

I mantain they were a great art project with a great pout-pourri of influences: early Rockabilly filtered through Suicide (who were themselves a futuristic version of early Rockabilly in places), shunted into stratosphere by use on technology. The manifesto, look, everything was thought out and spot on. Giorgio Moroder as a producer was the icing on the cake. The man took elements of the Motorik sound of Kraftwerk and made it suitable for mass consumption via Donna Summer. So, what fucked it up? Too much hype, as per always.

She beat Michael’s record of 7 Top 10 singles from one album with Rhythm Nation 1814 - scored 7 Top 5 singles from that album, a feat that’s never been broken. Also set a number of records of her own - most successful debut tour, biggest $ record label contract, only artist to have 3 albums with 5 or more top 10 singles , record 18 consecutive 18 top 10 singles, first artist to be Grammy nominated in 5 different genres, and so many more, and yet still been so under-appreciated/recognised. She’s the Blueprint, and finally getting her flowers.

everyone knows (specially Arista, clive Davis and Frank Farian RIP), without Rob and Fab, there would have not been any commercial success... my proof......... The Real MV (with Ray Horton lip syncing (Horton is a complete jerk, just like his musical career).

Too bad his 2nd single was a bad Elvis cover IMO. He should have had lots more hits. This might be the biggest "Hidden Gem" of Forgotten Top 20 hits.

He was our 80s Elvis and will never be forgotten. His brother Will Sexton as well. Charlie's son is a spitting image of him and I wonder if he knows how special his father was in the 80s. Beats so lonely was the song you heard on the radio in 1986, but Charlie is so much more than that song.

When they were surrounded by the screaming fans, that looked like something out of The Twilight Zone meets Black Mirror. In the middle of the second act. They’ve sold their souls and the world doesn’t care! More work. More screaming fans. Feeling empty and drugged up. But the train keeps gathering momentum. As they approach the final act.
