I'm speechless. Yikes. The talent is real; raw, even. Brava, sign me up! (love the minimal make-up too...)

Unsub. I dont follow creators who appropriate native american myths
@strayiggytvАй бұрын
I brought this up on the short video she made and she was disappointingly dismissive of my concerns. I get that she's not American but when I said this was like taking something from Japanese mythology and changing it so much it is no longer recognizable she fell back on the "it's just my interpretation" excuse. Can you imagine if creators had as much respect for the culture of brown people as they do for Japan?
@_starryfernАй бұрын
Is creating a simple art doll of a creature appropriation? People depict mythical creatures from other cultures very often, especially with art dolls. As far as I can see, she hasn't disrespected the culture nor myth in any way in the video. I understand it may be an important figure in stories and cautionary tales, but I feel it's so unfair that people get so mad when a Wendigo is portrayed in any kind of media.

@@RedrumSketches I'm sorry if I offended you with my comment /gen. Insults aren't the best way to get your point of view across though, unfortunately.
@strayiggytvАй бұрын
@_starryfern they don't get mad when it's in any kind of media. They get mad when this completely made up version is depicted in media. Have you actually looked into the myth? Read anything about it? Because deer skulls have NOTHING to do with the myth and are pure fantasy. If I took, say, the Phoenix and depicted it as a black horse made of leaves that lived in a swamp would I even be depicting the Phoenix? Would it not be disrespectful to its origin to just ignore everything that makes the myth significant? The wendigo is an allegory for a very human thing and to depict it as an animal is so far off base it's wild.
