This scene is even sadder when you see that gabriel is not a coward,just want to avoid conflicts(especially the ones between his loved ones) and stay neutral but get treated like shit by almost everyone.He could've ignore the meeting but he went in there to save(warn) a bunch of ppl who are scheming to kill him(who has nothing to do with the chaos his siblings caused) just bc the gods can't handle the fact that (arch)angels are minding their own bussiness. And then dean's like''they're your family'' like bro,lucifer's his family too.Just bc you don't like the devil doesn't mean gabe lost a right to consider him as the brother he grew up with.He literally run away from heaven bc he didn't want to choose a side on his family biting each other's head off. Now you're just asking that conflict avoider to choose between the two families who are abt to fight again. Moreover,despite him saying that he doesn't care,it's obvious that he was there for the winchester boys as much as he was for kali.He was running around like a chicken for the whole episode,stopping the characters from dying of stupidity but all he got was blackmail and badmouthing from dean(though partly he needed that to remind him he can't run forever and need to make his choice) and attempted murder(and betrayal) from the pagan gods. Gabriel's kind and loving side(which i think is his angel side he try so hard to hide under his trickster persona after he left and that's why the way he act became rly different after killing loki and abandon that identity forever) is so underrated.Seriously,he was like ''lucifer will kill you.I know my brother. you all will die if you face him,don't do this,etc. etc.'' as he was on that chair surrounded by ppl who are trying to shiskaboob him. The ones who has enough reasons to hate him(like sam who get nearly traumatized by the mystery spot and cas who get thrown around and kidnapped) are the only ones who almost always treat him well.
