Import tax is very high i Thailand, but income tax and Vat is only 7%, so look for things that are made in Thailand. Beer and alcohol made in Thailand is not expencive.

You don't mention the terrible air pollution. I can't see how you can claim it's underrated or that it's full of green space. Take for example your claim of all the green your see when you drive in from KLIA. It's all oil palm that has devastated the natural environment. You're so wrong on so many apsects.

You can LITERALLY see tourists everywhere you go from Petronas Twin Towers to Petaling Street Chinatown, so anyone who thinks the city underrated is either blind or not that bright to begin with.

I found Jakarta to have the cheapest 5star hotels myself!
