Agreed. It’s crazy that nobody ever cared about the series 70 1911’s not being “drop safe” during WW1, WW2, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War. Nobody seems to care that all SBR’s, AR platforms and shotguns are technically not drop safe either, yet all military/LE/SWAT agencies use them now and have been for decades. Yet one guy made a video of how he dropped his XC perfectly at a 90 degree angle directly on the muzzle from a height and it discharged…. Now everyone seems to thinks it’s a huge issue. I am retired LE and have never seen an officer drop his duty weapon. I have seen it occur on video, but every single time the gun fell on its side. Could a gun fall directly on the muzzle at a 90 degree angle AND with enough inertia to engage a round? Sure, but it’s SUPER unlikely. Again, military and police use SBR’s/AR’s daily and military does so in battlefields and this has never been an issue and these firearms are also not “drop safe”. From what people say, the HD has a lot of take up but has a nice reset. Seems like another solid gun from Staccato but no replacement for the C, C2, CS, P, and XC.
@PhilShootsGuns3 сағат бұрын
Yeah, I bet that every person that watched the video and is now talking sh*t about 2011s not being drop safe have no idea of how the gun works. And adding to your scenario, even if it fell perfectly at that 90 degree angle and with enough inertia to pop that primer, the chances are, the round will strike the ground and disintegrate. Maybe you get some shrapnel on your boots, maybe the gun gets significant damage but the likelyhood of that causing an injury is absolutely zero. I would bet on a P320 going off more than I would on a 2011. I want to try the HD but I do not plan on adding one to my collection. Let’s see how it is. I don’t think it can beat a 70 series trigger. Thanks for the comment by the way!
@fearnonebutone497759 минут бұрын
@@PhilShootsGunsI agree, it is pretty much a non-issue. I also want to try the HD 4.5 as the design is cool, but I don’t use pistol optics and the sight design is geared towards optics. That said, I may in the future and this would be a solid addition. For now, the CS with the QVO X extension and the full size C are getting the most use for me. I have the P Heritage too which I love.

You need the adapter at the buffer tube so it closes the gap. The spring and bolt are inside the upper so you don’t need a buffer tube but you need to “close” the hole for the buffer tube.

@ lol, I’m sure it’s good. I got a 2011…I think just watching Garand Thumbs drop safe video was hilarious and made 2011/1911 just look bad. It is nice that they are addressing these things and always improving. It’s like saying P320s are drop safe, but they obviously had a flaw at one point or still do and that shit will never go away when someone brings up P320s
@PhilShootsGunsКүн бұрын
difference is, 2011s will only fire if pointed straight down and on a hard surface. It’s inertia that makes them go boom, not a design flaw. Garand forgot to explain the reasoning behind it and the amount of people that just go out and repeat that without having the minimal idea of why things happen is crazy hahaha

I guess you’re entitled to your opinion but I will reserve mine until I get my hands on one and try it first. On paper the HD addresses all the complaints I had with the P so it looks promising to me.
@PhilShootsGuns2 күн бұрын
What are your complaints on the P, out of curiosity. Also, are you a lefty? I can understand a lefty wanting ambidextrous controls but I couldn’t care less about it. Same with the Glock mags. I can understand direct mount RMR but I don’t see anything wrong with the DPO system. Firing pin block is just garbage to me as the likelihood of this thing firing if unintentionally dropped is near zero. I do dig the sight block…
@1withthecosmos2 күн бұрын
@ My primary complaints were: 1. The Guns have never been drop safe! 2. Internal extractors, how is this still a thing in 2025? 3. I could never stand the slide release position. It bugs me to no end having to change my grip compared to all other modern platforms. Mag compatibility is also a huge plus and could be indicative of the reliability of this new platform since it was based around the mags to begin with.
@PhilShootsGuns2 күн бұрын
@ 1. It is drop safe. It will only fire due to inertia and you can watch my video explaining. If it doesn’t hit the ground perpendicularly and with enough force, chances are it won’t fire. Even if it does, bullet will hit the ground and not fly away and hit someone. 2. I’m fine with internal but can understand why some people prefer external. I’m fine with either. No deal breaker if it’s internal. 3. You can get an extended slide release. I do value your opinion and I will for sure try the HD if I have the opportunity but based on what I’m seeing currently, it is a no go for me. Especially at the price point it is.
@1withthecosmos2 күн бұрын
@ I can actually agree with you on that. If you already own a P, there are very few scenarios that justify getting an HD. However, this will convert the countless people that have been sitting on the fence and had reservations about the 2011 platform. Now let’s just hope that the gun turns out to be everything It promised it would be.
