Completely disagree. No one morns the wicked (the opening) is tremendously important. The movie made it even more powerful when they are burning her effigy. And the fact that everyone is celebrating while Glinda is in the middle of all of that mourning. Moving forward with the plot, establishing munchkin land is necessary, because Nessarose ends up as the wicked witch of the east. She takes over for fathers position.

Love the review, love the banter, great post and The Wild Robot is in my top 3. My only minor critique is Nosferatu and Nickel Boys are officially released in 2025 in the UK so shouldn't be included in this list. Otherwise, enjoyable show. Looking forward to seeing more from you for 2025.

Thank you, we really appreciate the comment... Yeah we slightly cheated with Nosferatu and Nickel Boys since some of us were luckily able to see it a bit early so they definitely wont be in the 2025 list... Have a great new year!!

Galinda as a character was COMIC relief and people love to laugh, so that makes her a fan favorite in the movie and I get it. Elphaba as a character wasn’t comedic and brought the emotions, so wouldn’t be as favorited in a movie that Galinda had you laughing all throughout. If you put aside who your favorite character is, Elphaba was showing a lot of strength yet vulnerability at the same time. Where Galinda had to say a lot, Elphaba’s eyes and face spoke volumes. That puts Cynthia higher for an acting award in my book. Ariana, would be higher up for a fan favorite type of award.

The part 2 of the movie will show more charater developments to glinda and fiyero. Its going to be a more serious movie. Loved the review although id have to disagree regarding the glinda comments. She was so interesting and funny, her charater was absolutely needed. Part 2 will reveal everything!

You really cant start that at school. First Elphaba’s backstory is important and second too many people love that first song.

Glinda isn’t meant to be compelling. She’s self absorbed and shallow. She was simply the comic relief. I loved her performance. Her character is only there to shadow Elphaba and prove how fickle people can be while experiencing self discovery. Glinda to me was never even remotely close to being a good person and that is why in the end she ultimately doesn’t go with Elphaba. It wasn’t meant to be. Elphaba never had a friend so she wanted her to join, but she was strong and resilient. She didn’t need validation from Glinda or the Wizard anymore at that point. Cynthia was elite in every way in my opinion. Her performance had depth and I felt sad knowing what her future holds. I don’t think you all were the target audience. It was definitely a 10/10 in every category and will most definitely take over the awards season.

Cynthia is also in the Oscar conversation. The trick for her is that her category(Best Actress) is more stacked with competition than Ariana’s Supporting category. I’m in the industry and Cynthia is very much in the conversation. People do feel that if she misses the mark this year, next year will be better chance for her. Act 2 of the musical is darker. Elphaba has more emotional depth. I do agree, she isn’t getting the praise she should, but Cynthia will at the very least, get precursor nominations( like Golden Globes and SAG). The movie itself is riding high. Many say it could win Best Picture. After the election, people want escapism. They want to feel good . Wicked is that movie.

You speak of the movie as engaging with race on acsuperficial way. I think it's a yes and no. Race is not directly or overtly addressed. But John M Chu chose to cast a woman with unerasable African features as Elphaba. That makes it so that even though the script is oblique and even cutesy/dismissive about race (green-skinned people being discriminated against?) you cant ignore the real issue of white supremacy as distorting everyone's reality. But I like the way you approach thinking about this film.

The film had to start in the future because the broadway play and book does and they’re sticking to the source material. It’s supposed to be picking up from the end of Wizard of Oz so it was intentional. In that scene, you can see Glinda doing the Wizard’s bidding with lots of regret. She tries to make the people sympathize with Elphaba but they weren’t having it. she was singing “no one mourns the wicked” at elphaba but really she was talking to herself. It’s a very gut wrenching scene. Plus that scene is how we learn Elphaba’s conception, childhood and backstory. You guys should dive deeper into the lore because it’s crazy.

Ariana brought the comedy aspect of the movie and Cynthia the emotional part. Both phenomenal performances. Ariana getting Oscar buzz for supporting role. She balanced comedy which is not easy to pull off with layers. It was not just a ditzy character but someone wanting more but falling short and then being complicit in the betrayal of her best friend. I honestly think her character has a lot of range to show and hence the Oscar buzz
@koragray4794Ай бұрын
12:27 - 13:20 I'm definitely agreed with your boy (the one with the backward baseball cap on), he hit it on the nail on the coffin, because you have to keep it mind that this is a origin story of how they met before both of them two become the good witch & the wickest witch of the west, so it's make sense on the storyline from the broadway show especially to get both of their perspectives before they end up becoming who they are in the future especially from the first to the second, & the third (which is the final act). Also, here my quick thoughts about the film: I'm really like the movie, plus, I thought Ariana & Cynthia did amazing as Glinda & Elphaba, so I not gonna choose who has the better performance in the film. Not only that, as much I'm enjoyed my girl Ari as Glinda especially being quirky & ditzy blond, it's Cynthia's performance as Elphaba that lowkey got me because of her emotional journey dealing with being different cause of her green skin and how people treated her like she is a freak, and struggling to find where she belong. So, she deserves her flowers though, overall, can't wait for part two, and I'm give it a 8. 💖💚 Little side note: I'm don't mind the beginning of the movie especially where the future take place because it's kinda make sense telling the story how it's all started it. 13:39

As a young but thorough TF fan, this film was fantastic. I love lore and this was just so so good. Like we haven't had a good origin story since the OG series and we didn't even know what Cybertron acc looked like so to see this all brough to the big screen was unbelievable. Unfortunately it is a kids film and would've liked to see a more 'grown up' version but nonetheless it was an amazing film. Was smiling from start to finish. 🔥🔥🔥

Y'all reviewing a movie but missed a lot. Every detail isn't meant to be explained, it's symbolism. The venom as the antidote is the parallel to Eve in the garden where the snake leads to the knowledge of good and evil. There was no venom in the vape. The serum causes short-term memory loss, it's erasing the newly created memories, so when he hit the vape, he forgot the night. In forgetting the night, it would make sense if people are dead, the women remember, hence why he charged at Frida, slipped and hit his head.
