Whatever you think about China, they went from peasants to Lamborghini’s in less than 50 years.

I'd love to convert my sailing dinghy to junk rig. Any idea where I can go for plans? PS: love the videos!

I've never heard of Kombucha. Looked it up on wikipedia and now very interested in brewing my own.

Look at the Junk Rig group on Yahoo... you can ask questions, download instructions and get going with very little money out of pocket. Have fun. I've since made another two sails for a ShellBack Dinghy that I named Otter. Otter now has a 56' sq ft Red Junk rig sail.

I love this video! I also love that you used bedsheets! :) Do you have any advise on good resources to learn about junk rigs?

Hi Jeff, I just was to correct you on the name of where the name "Junk" came from. This name was derived from the malaysian name for boat called "jhong". So, during the European sailors called it "junk" for western terms.

Thank you for the feed-back. I didn't realize the camber was intended to come from the bending of the batons. I built camber into the panels between the battens. Appreciate any pointers, that was my first JR sail, built another one last week.

Thank you, I've wanted to sail a junk rig for ages, and finally sunk in that I'd have to make my own sail. Then I just had to look for a victim with an un-stayed mast. I did break my wife's 30 year old singer sewing machine, but now we have a new brother that can sew through 3 layers of sheet and 3 layers of webbing without much of a complaint. I've sailed Boo a couple times with her old rigging, and the junk rig as made it a very smooth and fast and fun sail experience.
