Carry a can of Diet Coke or diet DP can in your kill kit. It cleans your hands and leaves them clean and not sticky.

I can attest to slow playing a bull!! It works so good. I've had a bull come in from so far I could bar3lly hear his bugle. I had patience and he came itntook him an hour but he came!

Yellow jackets. UGH! I've heard if you toss some scraps over to the side far enough they'll leave you alone. Not sure if that's true. Citric acid spray or cayenne pepper on it will help as well. Man, I felt those stings every time you mentioned it. I declared war on those things around my house. Great story and great podcast.

Paul is an icon in the elk world. I wish he would stay on topic-he jumps around too much. From a listener perspective, he needs to calm down and have an outline and stick to it.

I downloaded the app which is super helpful, but listening to these videos was a major help! After about 10 hours worth of listening through out the week (driving at work) i went out and attempted a version of a breeding sequence. Normally i would call for maybe 5 minutes and walk away, but i kept going, mixing in grunts, bugles, and excited cow calls while raking and stomping the ground. After 35 minutes i thought it was a bust but no sooner had i stood up to talk too my hunting partner about calling it when out pops a bull through the trees. Unfortunately we set up 5 yards in the wrong direction and had the shot blocked by a small mound of dirt, but the adrenaline rush was something else!

There is sooooo many similarities in tactics with calling elk as calling turkeys as in what you are trying to convey and the temperament of the animal you are trying to kill

Judging by all the hunters I've been bugling in, I think this app is worth its weight in gold. I must sound realistic if hunters are coming to me. I also bugled in a bull. Whats 5, 10, 15, or even 100 dollars if it helps you put hundreds of pounds of meat in the freezer? I HIGHLY recommend this app!!

the guy just making it all seems complicated just to immerse himself in In fact, no hunter in Asia hemisphere do these, and they still kill every four legged being around without giving out a sound with homemade bow or a throwing spear It's a known fact the way American grown up, it make them like children... still to their adulthood still pretend playing in scenario with non existent things... Kind of cute to be honest (why i love Americans.. they are like children to us)

Wow! That was killer, thanks to both of you. You both nailed some stuff that made sense. Paul, you really got me my first bull I called in and killed. I had called in quite a few prior just never been able to finish. I killed a bull prior, just didn't call it in. I had just listened to your podcast the night prior about the attention grunt. So, on December 5th I had a bull give an attention grunt, I did a variation of what you talked about on the podcast and with the Mavric from Phelps game calls, I called him in and killed him. I wasn't trying to call him in when he hit with the attention grunt so the setup could have been better, it happened way too fast but he gave a 70-yard shot and I pulled it off. I also got my elk this year by thinking about it like that and have developed a teneque that I don't call them in with but a way I make them go where I want them to go, so I can cut them off later, no calls after I get them to go. Late season stuff. It takes some miles but works. I still haven't got good enuff to pull off the early season call-in and finish. Thanks, both of you for some more key info.

Paul you are the man!! I was able to get two encounters with Bulls OTC CO in 2021 because of what I learned from you on here and the app. Everyone I talked to said they hadn't seen or heard any elk on public and I had 5 encounters, 2 bulls over 7 days. A shot only presented with cows but I held out for a bull and ended up with tag soup. Thank you for sharing your knowledge I don't think I've ever been as excited as I am for 2022 SEASON! One bull came to a cold call setup before day break and was within range at first light but never got a clear shot. The other I got as close to a bedding area as i could and did some cow mews (harassed sounding) and 1 chuckle and raking and he came in silent at 1 oclock, I stopped him a 1/2 second to soon and a tree blocked his vitals. But all in all a great success for my first elk hunt. Thank you sir.
@DagaanGalakticos2 жыл бұрын
I think elk know how to call on their own! I don't think they need a seminar! I mean really, what next are you going to have a ponderosa pine seminar and peach trees to be green? What are you do provide the elk with a whistle? Well there's a big difference you know between the I want to fight you sound and I want to f u sound so I sure hope you get it right! Or there's going to be a lot of unhappy elk hanging around your front yard!
