Took a road trip with a friend. His car burned a couple of quarts every 100-200 miles. He barely kept enough oil in the car to register on the dip stick. I made him completely fill up the oil pan with 5-6 quarts and made him pay for it and he got mad telling me how expensive it was. Never went on a trip in his car ever again.

Why are the people with Mercedes and BMWs working on their own cars? If yoh can't afford to have it professionally fixed, you can't afford the car!!!

Imagine if people maintained their airplanes like they maintain their cars! There would be aircraft raining down from the skies daily! I guess that they struggled to get the cost of the car, and maintenance isn’t necessary.

5:00 To be fair, there are a lot of people who don't even know that there is a cabin air filter. My wife's old car AC wouldn't work well and at first we thought it was just needing to be recharged, but I did some online research and found that the issue could be because of the cabin air filter. After finding the darn thing and replacing the dirty mess, the AC worked great. Until that vehicle, I've never had a car with a cabin air filter.

17:41 that's the second 3 Wheel drive car I've heard about! My daughter in law said her Daddy the master mechanic told her she has a 3 Wheel Drive car the Numbers on the Shifter were 1 wheel 2 wheel and 3 for 3 wheel drive! She was adamant I was wrong about their being no such thing! Her daddy is always right. Maybe I was wrong after seeing this? Maybe it's her car? I'll never know I won't work on it because Daddy is her only mechanic.

I am a Kiwi mechanic and the rust in the cars I see from the salt belt makes my blood run cold. I got failed for a 1990 F150, in great condition, a slight dust rust on the chassis here. Yet the rule is that corrosion should not compromise a load bearing structure. Trouble is that a whole lot of inspectors are from non english speaking, so words like excessive and significant are not understood.

My mechanic friends said to not become a mechanic if I want to keep liking cars. Seeing how the market has gone to obsolescence design engines with everything in the way. Front clip removal to change bulbs.... They are true friends. None are mechanics anymore. All had to change careers becaee the labor was terrible. End of the internal combustion freedom is sad.

What I find pretty messed up about this video is how many of the mechanics actually bring the customers car back to overheating just to confirm customer was right that’s pretty risky

With the cabin air filters you need a vacuum cleaner to clean that crap out

8:29 there’s always a solid spot on the frame somewhere or you just use the trailing arms
@MrRobMetal2 күн бұрын
Both of these vids with the mercedes E-class, subframes rusting the trailing arms off is very common. Mercedes recognises the issue and even offers settlement on pricing for these repairs. Still after all these years. A costumer of mine has a E-class taxi with 700k KM on the clock when this happened, mercedes gave him 50% off on the subframe. I think that's pretty good costumer care if you ask me.

@2:32 How disgusting you have to be to just casually go out with a car in that state. I understand that I have a dirty car, but that's nowhere close to being like that. I will do deep clean after winter on mine though, will steam off all the salts that will accumulate on the carpets throughout the wet 'n salty winter. Edit: Watched the whole video, this content never disappoints, but the condition on these cars make me speechless.

3:20 if you think thats bad you should have seen my moms Volvo V40 D3 air filter last year before i changed it. Saw that there was never an air filter change since we bought the car in 2021. Took the filter out, the orange spongy foam was all cracked and ripped, the filter was very gray and dirty and full of sand and the wool looking stuff was just gone, nowhere to be found, just a bit of silicone looking glue stuff in its place. Glad i ignored my dad trying to discourage me and invalidate me and checked the air filter while i was swapping the light bulb

1:46 I hope the customer paid for the new filter and drove off with it first, so they wouldn't accuse the shop of destroying the old one.

12:26 last winter I drove a snow cat that needed oil every week or 100 hours I wondered where it was going I looked for leaks told the mechanics about it I guess some just burn it the other drivers snow cat didn’t have that problem. At first I started noticing the temp going up then checked the fluids I was in the middle of nowhere but took extra fluids and whatever I needed. I got the feel of it afterwards knowing its quirks.

10:59. The tilt columns on that period of Chevy trucks were terrible about getting so loose that they barely seem connected to anything. You often could even make the gear selector move position just by jiggling the wheel in just the right way. Every single one of them I've ever seen had this problem.
