Love both, but the time they have in the movies to investigate makes the stories more impactful!

I agree with the first Hunger Games and Harry Potter being good adaptations of the books. I’ve recently watched the first seasons of the Three Body Problem on Netflix and now I want to buy the books (I know they’re thick). Sometimes adaptations actually make me interested in the story! Great episode guys

What’s better, movie adaptations of video games or video game adaptations of movies?

It’s been over maybe 15 years since I saw the og movie and pretty much a decade since I’ve seen Prometheus. I knew they were supposed to be connected somehow but I couldn’t really understand it then. I enjoyed this one much much more because of how it called back to the og one. Some people may have not liked how much it called back on the original, but I liked it (and it gave an excuse for some of the not great writing and delivery imo). I think I felt more terrified during the first half before they de-thaw the face huggers. After that, the reveal of the monster, I wasn’t afraid. Not until the offspring. The ending just made me mad at how overly horrifying it was. The final jumps scare was one too many and too severe for someone like me who enjoys horror but HATES uncanny monsters. I slept fine after watching it though…maybe I’m desensitized from y’all’s gaming content😅

Last thing I’ll comment: I do not endorse Snow Piercer! I’d prefer you watch Old Boy (if you can handle it) or Memoir of a Murder (this movie helped solve the cold case-sort of!). Finally, if you want a recent Korean movie recommendation, that hasn’t really hit the global market but is a modern twist on classical Korean horror, I recommend Exhuma (파묘).

Thank you guys for the shoutout and for finaaaaally reviewing this one! I have a lot to say about why I love this movie, but I don’t need to share my thoughts because you hit on almost all of them! I will say a couple of things though (my opinion only). This movie is so interesting to me because each time I watch it, the genre changes. There’s just so much to pick up on. I also watched the black and white showing before the pandemic shutdown the theaters. I have to say, it made the storyline more poignant. Take out the visuals and you pick up more on the tone and the dialogue. The sound of the rain is more dire than the visuals of it. Anyways, the film was a hit in Korea, but I believe it was more popular in the internationally, especially in the US. It’s been so influential in the international studies community that it’s impossible to pursue a degree in Korean area studies without being interested in Korean film (or K-wave). History is out and film is in. Great review. Keep them coming! -from your biggest fan in Korea

Tbh I’ve always enjoyed the phantom menace because as a kid, all of the non political stuff was just really fun. As an adult, when I watch it back, each time I enjoy it just for the nostalgia🥲 the only one of the trilogy that I didn’t even finish was episode III because of the fight between Anakin and Obi-wan. To this day I still haven’t been able to watch that part…

I never thought of Alien as anything other than sci-fi, which to me has an element of scary to it already as things like the future and space are as unknown to me like the dark hallways of horror movies. Anyways, now I want to add this to my October watch list. Great episode!
