I'm very critical of videos about Halifax, Lunenburg/Mahone Bay & Peggy's Cove. Congratulations on not giving me any reason to criticize. Well done!

Thank you!! Whilst not a resident, I have been fortunate to make over 100 visits to Halifax with Holland America line ships over the past 15 years. An amazing city, and I we could have easily made this video 45 minutes long with all there is to do there. Next we will surely have to make a video about the amazing food scene there!

We visited Halifax September 2023 via cruise ship… and we found it to be a beautiful city with fabulous scenery outside the city too! Definitely would return to Nova Scotia. 👏🏻💙

Hi, Julie, I'm a lifelong Haligonian (Halifax resident) and spent 20-ish years in tourism here, starting at Peggy's Cove and the last 15 as a tour guide/driver in Halifax. I'm glad you enjoyed your visit here :)

Hi just wondering if you can get a visa on arrival at the Sihanoukville autonomous port after exiting a cruise ship?
@dockeddiscoveries5 ай бұрын
Hi Diane, so this is always a in a little bit of a state of flux with how the local government there wants to process visas. Typically the standard is that you can either get it yourself prior to sailing, or your cruise lines guest services team can process it for you in advance of the day, which the last time i sailed there was around $35USD i believe. It is done onboard though, rather than shoreside when you step off the ship. That process is much more common in ports in Japan, Korea and China. To play it safe, i would recommend checking with your cruise line in advance, and if they can do it onboard, that would be the easiest option for you. I hope that helps!

Hi will it be safe to walk for your suggested route?
@rubycebreros23306 ай бұрын
Walk in packs of two or three wouldnt be a problem.. but the paths suggested has a lot of people so no problem… its the heat that will have you beat. I suggest hire a tour van
@dockeddiscoveries6 ай бұрын
Hi James! Whilst safety can never be guaranteed anywhere in the world, in our opinion, yes. We've walked this path many times, and never felt unsafe. The bigger factors on the decision making would be the distances involved, and potential weather of the day- it can be very hot!

Thank you for this information. Can this specific train route’s schedule be found online?
@dockeddiscoveries8 ай бұрын
Hey Samantha! It may be possible. I have just gone to the train station in the past, and during the day there has normally been a train every 15 minutes or so. They can be quite crowded at times, so just be mindful of your belongings!

Do you know the distance that the cruise passenger need to walk out to the port to meet the local taxi driver? Thanks!
@dockeddiscoveries8 ай бұрын
So it depends on the specific docking location. Within the Tien Sa Peninsula Port, ships can dock in a couple of spots. From either however, it involves walking through a big container shipping port. Normally you will have access to a free golf buggy style shuttle going back and forth from the ship to the port gate. On my most recent visits there, you were allowed to walk, and it was approximately 1/2 a mile / 800m. I hope that helps!

how much is the round trip from Los Angeles, ca to philippines?
@dockeddiscoveries8 ай бұрын
Depends on a lot of factors! Time of the year, airline, class of ticket etc. A simple google search will bring up lots of options for you. Normally you can find round trip tickets in the $1000-$1400 range for economy tickets.

are camels an option to ride in and out on?
@dockeddiscoveries8 ай бұрын
They used to be. They are trying to replace them more so with the electric vehicles, for a number of reasons. You do still see camel rides available, but more so in front of the treasury after the walk in, rather than going the whole way in!

How far is the ferry terminal to the the cruise port?
@dockeddiscoveries9 ай бұрын
Hi Jack! It is around 4 miles / 6km. Just outside the port gate you will find lots of Tuk Tuk drivers that can give you a ride there. $5-10 USD will get you there, might take a little negotiating. Normally cruise lines provide shuttles from the ship to the port gate as it is quite far.

25x magnification binocular??? You better bring a giant tripod and a backpack to haul that thing around because there's no way you're free handing 25x binoculars. I think an 8x or 10x power binocular is more than sufficient.
