How cool. I've never heard of white sweet potatoes. Do they taste any different? How many potatoes come from each plant? You definitely got some huge ones. Blessings 😊

Thanks for sharing. I love making zucchini bread! I've never thought of freezing zucchini. Once thawed, do you drain off the water to make zucchini bread or do you just throw it in the bowl with the juice?
@HodgePodgeHoosiersАй бұрын
No I don’t drain it. The recipe usually says to add it to the bread. It needs the added moisture 🙂

those small "jars" you are talking about ... check the yellow mustard (or ground mustard) in the grocery stores - many companies put their mustards (and pickles and such) in those little fancy crock looking jars

@tericarter2512Ай бұрын
Won’t they be mushy?
@HodgePodgeHoosiersАй бұрын
I thought that too. That is why I do the raw pack method. After pressure canning, they are technically done, so when dropping down in oil, just be careful, let them start turning light brown on one side before stirring. They fry up very well for me. Another way I use these fries is when I need to make a potato casserole for a gathering. I just cut them up smaller and then throw the other ingredients in a dish and bake. It cuts down on use of the oven 🙂Thanks for watching!

I was looking forward to canning my green beans. Even after i stringed them they still had hard woody strings. It's my first year growing the green beans. I used an heirloom bush bean. What kind of green beans did you grow and do you have that problem?
@HodgePodgeHoosiersАй бұрын
I like to stick to two kinds of bush green beans. Blue Lake and Contender. With these varieties, I haven’t had to deal with strings. I love them. I did a video on how I grow mine in raised beds. They did great this year. Thank you for watching!

Before I learned differently, I used table salt with iodine for green beans. It made the beans mushy. I ruined a whole batch of green beans! Yuk. There is a caking agent (whatever that means), but iodized salt also messes with flavor and mostly texture. Good show! New sub here. 😊
@HodgePodgeHoosiersАй бұрын
Yes learning about salt has been an adventure! Now that we use sea salt and pink Himalayan, you can really taste the metal like taste in iodized. Thank you for watching and subbing!

Hi, does it thicken or harden as the days go by? Instead of using Borax, could I double up on the washing soda powder?
@HodgePodgeHoosiersАй бұрын
It does thicken but is still soft if that makes sense. I’m not sure on the substitution you are asking but I don’t see why a person couldn’t experiment with it. Maybe make a little batch and see if it works to your satisfaction? Thanks for watching 🙂

It's more wind powered than solar but wind is technically solar powered. It works if your yard is 100% shade and works at night. It will work in cold temperatures too. The important factor is humidity. Cold water will evaporate if the humidity is low.
