great video, thank you for doing it.. with all the drives you have.. you'd be better off getting a large (8-12bay) synology with 10gbe networking. it'll be a larger initial investment.. but you can expand it over time. with a nvme cache (you can add it), it'll be as fast or faster than these glyph drives with more flexibility. you'd probably still want to edit off one of these portable drives on site.. but back home.. you'd have all your data in one place organized.. and on redundant storage. When it fills up, you just add another drive into one of the open bays.. or if you have filled up all the bays you'd just replace the smallest drive with a larger one and "rebuild" the drive array.
@dmille6
@dmille6 12 күн бұрын
"continuous" basically makes the two drives as one.. when you start saving data to it.. it'll fill up one of the drives, then move to start saving data on the other. if one drive dies, you lose everything.. RAID 0 is a little different. when you save data (a file) to a RAID 0 drive, it saves 1/2 the data on one drive, and 1/2 the data on the other at the same time.. again, if you lose a drive you lose everything.

I'm in the process of making the change from Android to iPhone. Girlfriend just got her 16 plus and I'm waiting on my 16 pro to show up and I'm a little taken aback. Most folks we know are using iPhones and the SOS satellite features along with the resale and applecare simplicity are why we decided to give it a shot. It's been a bit of a shock playing with her 16 plus to see just how many features are missing compared to our older androids (Pixel 6 and S22), along with what feels like nickle and diming for features like ringtones and basic stuff missing like turning off alarms for one day but reactivating for the next, etc. When it comes to the camera, it's wild to see on paper what the specs were and what was already in ours vs the iPhones we just "upgraded" to. I don't know if we came in at an awkward time to the apple ecosystem (seems to have stagnated from the 14 to now) or if it really is yesterdays tech at tomorrows prices :(
@FlashForwardmg
@FlashForwardmg Ай бұрын
@@Obiwan-KenBlowme yeah, I was a hardcore android user before, what got me wasn’t necessarily the features it was the ecosystem, and the fact that every single app is optimized for Apple then a variation is made for android devices. I can say this much tho… I’m not going back to android anytime soon
@Obiwan-KenBlowme
@Obiwan-KenBlowme Ай бұрын
@@FlashForwardmg Ended up taking it back and going back to my Pixel 6. The apple watch and airpods are nice but ultimately for a phone that costs $1500 CAD, it has less features than my 3 year old pixel. The 48 MP ultra wide was a pain to use and often resulted in blurry pics and comparing pictures between the two, there are subtle differences but nothing that you can't change with processing. Apple carplay is nice for not locking you out from the keyboard when driving or the "safety breaks" when you're scrolling through a list, but otherwise really lacks as far as navigation goes. I should be able to swipe and pinch to zoom on the map without pressing 4 arrows to "move along" my route... Moving my info from android to iOS was a pain even with the "move to iOS" app, mail sucks and lacks any form of proper organization, relegating you back to using Gmail and you can't import your saved passwords from chrome without a mac or downloading chrome for the iphone...Not to mention iCloud only including 5gb of data before you need to purchase a monthly sub for more, vs google drive offering 15-25gb for free. I really don't get the hype for these things and at one point, yeah Apple was a far more premium product, now I can't imagine anyone really making the switch with the quality of life differences that android offers, unless it's given to them for free. Really is yesterdays tech for tomorrows prices. Unreal.

Great video, very informative. We have been thinking about upgrading our documentary package, currently shooting on a pair of Sony HDR fs100’s and a Sony a7lll, fully rigged out. Some debate as to whether the FS 100’s are true “cinema cameras” or just top tier, for their time, camcorders, they lack a few features common on most models today. They have still been a joy to shoot with, super 35mm sensor, interchangeable lens design and low noise low-light performance, if only 1080p.
