I also love the cottage garden look. It’s hard to plant and leave room for things to grow in. I’ve had to do the same as you, take some things out to give room. Remember it’s part of the journey. I agree with you, work with your garden that you have and not put in more, it’s just creating more work. Your garden is looking great ❤

Love a good plan even if there are usually some changes. We’re still locked into cold and daily snow showers following the weekend winter storm. Another one is looming for this Friday and Saturday. I’m patiently (?) waiting for spring.

It’s not the deer I worry about snaking on plants and shrubs . It’s the VOLES that eat the roots . In my opinion they are the number one garden destroying pest .

I don't have much problem with voles but anything that destroys our beloved gardens is very frustrating!!

I feel yalls pain! To avoid clogs, I suggest dipping an old paint brush into your deer repellant and spritzing it. I use "wireless deer fence" prongs. Very effective! Especially when you move them around! Thanks for sharing! Happy new year!!!

I was spraying liquid fence a few days ago also. It's my first time trying to garden with deer. I'm hoping its really effective. I want to grow a bunch of things that I'm reading deer really like - roses, hydrangeas, hibiscus, encore azaleas. I know you grow all of that, so I'm hopeful I can too.
@therestlessgardener92875 күн бұрын
We have had good results with Liquid Fence, but we have to be consistent. Otherwise, it wears off, and the deer are back! They typically leave my hydrangeas alone but they definitely aren't deer resistant 😒

Binge watching older videos as I can. Trying to comment on each of them as I go. Hoping that helps even though it’s a past video. Love your garden , and I find that the cardboard method works really well for me. Is best if put down and covered with mulch and allowed to lay awhile before you plant the bed up. I have put it around new plantings as well.

I enjoy your channel because I like to see different plants in a landscape (to decide if they will work for me also, and what to expect them to look like as they grow), and also how you design things. I just moved to a new house and quickly realized I have deer, which I never had to deal with before, so I'll be paying more attention to what you say about that in your garden. Im sure Im going to have to get some of those cloches. One other channel I really like is the Southerner's Northern Garden. Laura is nice, but I most of the time I find it hard to relate to Garden Answer, and she doesnt grow as many things as I like to grow in my acid soil, semi-southern climate.

So, for me I like you channel because i identify with what you plant....IE, tree's and shrubs ( my style is very woodland because of my surroundings. . I also watch garden hike out of Canada because of his style. but your climate is almost identical to mine so i like not only your style, but it makes sense for me in Massachusetts. I also like S&K greenhouse....He's comical and does a lot with evergreens, Right up my alley. There are other channels i watch, but only when the title of the video catches my eye, for something i might like. In other words, if the title is planting spring bulbs, i would probably not bother watching it. I mean how many times do i need to see bulbs going in the ground. How they look when they come up in spring is so much more interesting to me. I also like gardening tlc. she has some great content. But she films much more than her won garden. she works at/ owns a garden center and films there plus she does some landscaping jobs she films. I think you have the right idea to fill in the blanks though. go to other gardens and film. Even friends houses? Maybe your garden center would let you film in their nursery after hours of some plant combinations. Like, just the nursery cans in a pattern of what and how you would plant them say up against a foundation, or in a circle garden, maybe something for a berm garden....ETC....Tree's shrubs perennials and annuals......could be fun if they let you. I would like to get on a garden tour also, but like you i never feel ready. I don't have to worry though because my town does not offer this. :) Keep up the great work you two...... and happy new year!

I watch Garden Hike, too. His property is amazing! I like you idea about filming different things at the garden center and I might just see if I can do that this season. I’m fairly new to your channel, but I so enjoy it. Going to watch past videos as time allows. One channel I love is gardening@tlc. Michelle is the host from Chicago. She does an excellent job, very upbeat, very knowledgeable. One thing she does that we all seem to enjoy is to visit private gardens and video them. I don’t know if that is something you might want to do. I too rarely watch the bigger channels. I go over for the eye candy during a full tour but that’s about it. I enjoy watching ones that are more like my own garden.
