Rarely does mass media portray authentic masculinity, especially with a character whose persona has been juxtaposed with an independent female character. In this scene, Beckett comes face-to-face with the man Castle has become and has decided to lead their relationship. For the women who perennially ask, "Where are the "good" men?" or "What happened to Chivalry?" Castle provides the answer; it's right inside the man in front of you. Castle isn't asking Beckett what comes next or where their relationship is going. I am trying to remember a previous scene where Castle tells Becket to shut up and listen to him. And when Castle proposes and Beckett waffles, he again presents her with caring, understanding leadership: "Yep, there will be issues and challenges, Becket. You and I will have to solve them as partners just like we have solved murder cases. Now again, Kate Beckett, will you marry me?" Like Becket, having a multimillionaire, nationally acclaimed writer as a husband is going to be a problem with her becoming an FBI Special Agent.

Season 8 feels like a different entity. From rest. Of seasons. The writing felt very wrong to me. Castle had a quite a lot of innuendos earlier it lacked in season 8 or were very poorly timed. The romantic scenes felt rushed.and lets gets this done .. Till season 7 they were just enough and perfectly timed . Season. 1-7 everything felt smoothly sailed natural season 8 didn't do justice

I hate the writers of this episode it makes Kate look so bad , she is ready for the breakup and doesnt even look sad , its clear that no matter what Castle says she is going to DC and nothing is going to stop her , they made her look uncaring , and he had to make all the concessions to get her to agree to marry him
