I find it hard to believe that anybody is really bothered about the homepage having books to buy on it. The library tab literally has all of your books without any ads or Amazon forcing you or encouraging you to buy anything. You can avoid the homepage completely if you want to. I feel like getting angry at Amazon's homepage is just a popular argument that people use against the Kindle, but I can't see how anybody is really bothered. It certainly doesn't annoy me anyway, im too busy reading to be annoyed at something that trivial. It's like turning up to a bookshop and being annoyed that they are advertising books in the window.

That's super fair. I basically spend all my time on the library tab as well. So it's not an all the time frustration. I think it's more about the principle of the thing than the actual thing. At least for me. It also asthetically ugly, which admittedly is a very petty critic 😂. For me I don't mind a bookstore advertising because I'm there to buy books. But on my kindle I'm there to read and with so much focus on ads sometimes it feels more equivalent to ads being placed in a book than being at a bookstore. But you're right that it's super easy to avoid and overall doesn't stop me from using my kindle. 😊

I love buttons especially when it’s cold outside. When I have gloves on, I don’t wanna take them off just to turn a page so buttons make it 1000 times better!

Thanks for sharing your views and thoughts re KOBO v Kindle. I own both. However, like you, I personally will never totally condemn the kindle simply because they were one of the first on the e-reading platform. They did get somewhat complacent; but hopefully have had a rude awakening by competitors standing on their very established shoulders. I have hope for their the future development of Kindle and believe they will resume leadership in the dynasty of e-readers, if only because they sell good books best. PS: Books can also be borrowed from libraries via the Kindle device.

Hi! I don’t know if anyone has already said this, but you can make the Kobo refresh the page only when you reach a new chapter! Or at least I can do it with the Kobo Libra 2 (the one before the colour) Hope this can help!❤️

You CAN sign into multiple libraries on Kobo now. It’s a convoluted process to get set up but once it’s done all your library books will sync across. Plus the Overdrive sign up / login page is ridiculously hard to find. You’ll need to Google: Overdrive account sign up or Overdrive account sign in. _____________ First you’ll need to: Create an overdrive account on your computer or sign in to your existing Overdrive account. Add all your libraries where you have cards to your Overdrive account > drop down menu under your profile icon (top right of screen) > Saved Libraries > Find and add your libraries here. _____________ Once you’ve done that you need to go to your Kobo device and sign into Overdrive and then sign into each of your libraries one by one. On your Kobo, make sure you’re connected to wifi and go to More > Settings > Overdrive It’ll say ‘ Not signed into Overdrive’ ____Get Started > click ‘Get Started’. Underneath the ‘Create an Account’ and ‘Learn More’ buttons is a link to ’Sign in with Overdrive’ - click that Search and choose your first library that you want to add. It will take you to a page where you can scan the QR code to sign into Overdrive. Scan the code and you’ll be taken to a page where you can sign into your Overdrive account. Once you’ve signed in, you’ll need to approve your device access. Once you’ve approved it, your Kobo will show a page where it says that you’re all set to start browsing. X out of the screen and you’ll be in your ‘More’ menu again. Choose Settings > Overdrive and if it’s worked correctly you should now be signed into Overdrive and your library that you chose will be listed under your name. == Now you need to sign out of Overdrive and repeat the sign in process for each library that you want to add. Make sure you choose each new library when you sign in to Overdrive. You can stay signed into the last library you’ve added on the device, this will be the only library catalogue you can browse from the actual Kobo itself. Or you can sign out and re-sign in (via Overdrive) to your favourite library. >>>> Once you’ve signed into all of your libraries you can now borrow from any library via the Libby app and once you sync your Kobo the books will be downloaded onto your device. __________ [[ Note: If the QR code doesn’t work when signing into Overdrive > choose the button below that says ’sign in on this device’. The button will take you to a page where you can sign in with your library card - DON’T SIGN IN WITH YOUR LIBRARY CARD! Scroll further down the page and choose the button that says ’Sign in with Overdrive’. Then sign into your account with your email address and password. ]]

The annotations do stay around if you annotate on a library book, return it, and then buy it from the kobo store. I know because I did just this yesterday. I don’t delete the previews from my device after reading though. I had to sync the device after purchase for the annotations to show back up so I think the annotations are stored in the kobo cloud. Handwritten notes are included.

This is another reason why I have both a Kobo and Kindle. For my kindle I love Kindle Unlimited and theres WAY more books vs Kobo plus. Also for Libby I love the simplicity of being able to browse books on the app from my phone, then able to send it to my Kindle right away from any library without having to mess with Kobo and overdrive but having to switch libraries.

You can always get the Clara b&w. The reason it isn’t crisp is because all color eink screens have an extra layer that dulls the surface. The Colorsoft has this issues too

If you get the same book from different sources, they technically are not the same book. They have different identifiers, so annotations that are bound to one specific book from one source cant be easily transferred to another version of the same book. If you used libby in the past you get the exact same book that can be purchased from the kindle shop. But i don’t really care too much about the annotations being in the book. I just need the marked and annotated pieces to be exported to another file. This is then what i work with to write essays, summaries, collect the quote or just think about. I don’t need the actual book for that. Still it would be great if I read the book again in the future to still have ma annotated copy.

i have both kindle and kobo. the BIG con for kobo is, the book variety. i wish their variety was amazon. KU offers a lot of "new" popular for free is on KU. Kindle only con is you cannot annotate on it like you can the kobo. i love both, but i reach for my kindle more, because kindle has more books and popular books i want to read.

I would approach it the way I would physical books, I wouldn’t annotate library books because they are for the public, and if I really love a book so much I want to annotate it then purchase and annotate the copy I own. But I’m new to being able to have library books on my ereader since Kindle didn’t support that in my country. Sounds super frustrating as it seems like you got used to doing that on the kindle though, hope it gets sorted out one day.

You can send your kindle books over to your kobo very easily with calibre. It worked amazingly for me because I had a lot of books on my kindle as well! I also buy books for a much cheaper price in the kindle store and than transfer them to Kobo! No way I’m going to pay Kobo prices 😂

Man I was not ready for that price on the kindle. The whole point of the e reader to me was to save money on books by taking them out from the library. Something that can only read books shouldnt cost as much as a mid level phone.

Sorry, but it took 4 minutes before finding out WHICH device you're talking about. I think it's vital to add it to the title or at least on the description; I'm looking for reviews on a Kobo device but the Libra was not it. Some chapters would also help to navigate the various discussion points.
