That era of frames were not as strong as later versions as well, my first frame lasted about 6 months before cracking at the head tube/top tube.

Naw, take it from someone who was spending 5K a month on advertising in 1984… you get magazine coverage because of the ad spend from your sponsors. Simple as that.

I have a pair of his Bottoma forks, Redline straight crossbar bars (raw), and a set of Redline Forklifter chrome bars. The build quality is just ok (Actually the fork has really nice welds). But I choppered the fork with one disaster on my mini ramp. So, theres that. The bars however, have held up well to what my 56 year old body can dish out on street and ditch spots. That said, I'd never buy another pair of his forks. But plan to get an RL 20II frame from him, build it with parts intended to ride, and plan to ride it into the ground, however long or short that takes. I appreciate his products for what they are, and wouldn't pretend that they're anything better than that. As well, i understand the problem some have with him. Ultimately, we aren't his target market. Great video, btw. Cool to see what to expect frame-wise. Thanks for sharing your experience!

Can you do a story on NoCal BMX? I began racing at 6 years old because of Richie and Ronnie Anderson’s dad working at Mare Island with my dad. As a kid I went to a couple races with them. I was in awe at Vallejo PAL track with Anderson’s and Patterson’s and the other many iconic riders out of NoCal. So much major talent came from that area. I only made it to expert and was more into football. But still won over 100 trophies racing there and WA and TX.

I understand your frustration because I'm going through the same thing as you but with the difference that the manufacturer is a native from the USA, with 40 years in the market and it's been 3 years and they still haven't given me my frame, fork and seat post. I have all the payments supported, I have all the conversations from the first day and lies after lies from the manufacturer, the anger that it gives is to see that they continue making parts for others and one's is never ready. after seeing your video these days I will take down the video of this scammer from the USA..... the only thing in your case is that you should not call it fake because we have always been aware that the purchase is an imitation similar to the original but not the same ok but for the rest you are completely right, besides it is unforgivable that I sent a Haro fork... for God's sake... is there no surveillance in the shipment? note that with your video I will no longer ask Mr. BMX for anything because I do not want to suffer anymore due to bad practices of these manufacturers. The last thing is that if you plan to sell the CW, let me know. Very good video

For the price it may seem a good option, but before you jump the gun, consider these few things: These are Steel, never been praised for the weld quality, the lead times, the powder quality, the additional cost to source the decals and the communication difficulties…. Even for a display only set, is kind of a lot to deal with no? 😬

The first Quadangles, looptail '80-'81, were badly made by an outside contractor whose main business was truck bullbars! Poor welds, cheap mild steel for '80 and poor spiral-seamed cr-mo tubing for '81, and suspect/inconsistent alignment throughout. The "gen 2" '82 cr-mo and '83-'85 Reynolds 531 Quadangles were done in-house at SE. Those were made to a very, very high standard. Great welding, quality seamless tubing and perfect alignment. Early Landing Gear were made by Trophy Products (race motorcycle frame builder) for SE. When TP went bust ('83?) SE took Landing Gear production in-house. All Landing Gear, whether TP or SE made, were great quality. Original PK Ripper was junk though. Made by Bill Bastian for SE. Badly placed brake bridge. Silly 13/16" seat post size. Prone to cracking in several places. The at SEPK went in-house for '85. Design was improved greatly. The '85 and on PK frames were good. So, some junk but certainly not always. Those knock off Quads with all the holes look awful. How many will end up getting the holes filled to be passed off as genuine? Caveat emptor.
