you don't have to remove the breather hoses or cover, just disconnect the hoses at the vent nipples on the tank and move entire tank to a table / surface on side of bike, you don't need to disconnect the fuel lines either they will stretch / move

First off, maaaaan. What a tedious job this was, just finished it (took about 4 hours). Mind you, I still recommend people trying this out because it was eye opening and you learn a lot about your bike. For the longest time, I couldn’t get those hex bolts out with the wrench because I didn’t have the right size, until I remembered that my monster came with its own tool bag (under the seat) that has every tool in it you need to work on the bike. Also, your tutorial was awesome man. I used it to replace the battery and you brought up everything perfectly. That one side plug that you mention behind the frame, I couldn’t find it before prying off the tank , but as soon as I attempted to pry it off, I saw it. I don’t think you need to remove it but I did just in case. Really easy to spot. Thanks again for making this.

Ut Tang, I know you no longer have this bike, but thank you for such a fantastic video. I did it perfectly with no problems ( helped me fit a trickle charger ). Funny thing too, it already has one but was so well hidden I didn’t see it ha-ha. Oh well I had fun.

Great video. I have to replace my battery on my 796 and wondered where it is located. I have only had the bike for a few days now. Quite the process for sure compared to my other bikes.

I guess it makes sense to do this job with the tank almost empty ha... do you mind if I ask why you don't have the bike anymore? I'm thinking of purchasing a 2009 696. Is it worth getting it? I just want to upgrade from a 2011 Ninja 250R. Thanks.

THEY MAKE AN ADAPTER CABLE THAT PLUGS ONTO THE OEM PLUG THAT GOES TO THE BATTERY AND THEN THE "BATTERY TENDER" THE ADAPTER CABLE CAN BE PURCHASED ON EBAY.

YOU CAN FISH THE CABLE FOR THE OEM BATTERY CHARGER OUT FROM UNDER THE TANK ON THE LEFT SIDE. THERE IS AN ADAPTER CABLE YOU CAN PURCHASE ON EBAY WHICH WILL ADAPT THE OEM CABLE GOING FROM THE BATTERY AND WILL CONNECT TO THE "BATTERY TENDER". WITHOUT GOING THRU ALL OF THE LABOR,HOWEVER IF YOU REPLACE THE BATTERY YOU WILL HAVE TO REMOVE THE PANELS AND LIFT THE TANK.

Hi, i've seen your video and did this to my '10 Monster 1100S. They problem is that when I insert key "1" for the second time, it should say "prog OK", but it doesn't. It keeps asking for the key and counting from 25. Any idea how to solve this problem?

+Phillip Tran Hi Phillip I have a 2012 Evo that only came with one key when I purchased it. Dealer could not get the second key from the original owner. So I ordered a new key from the dealer and had it cut. It fits the ignition perfectly. I have the code card and the original key. I would like to program the second new key and want to confirm that this video worked exactly the same for you. I'm up in Sacramento. Thanks, Chuck

Much thanks for this mate. I bought a 2011 796 ABS with one key (and codecard) and this worked exactly as shown in the vid. I got a genuine original blank key c. 70USD (i paid 90AUD at the dealer, not bad!). Then got the key cut by a generic locksmith ('sidecut' ability needed [can also have specialist auto locksmiths do it off the mechanical code shown on the codecard], it's done on a machine that copies the original exactly) - they did it while i waited, then I programmed the two keys exactly as shown. Not only did this save me approx $160AUD, but it saved the hassle of taking the bike over to the dealer for them to grossly overcharge on something that takes a first-timer maybe three minutes to do. jokers. Thanks again. WORKS AS SHOWN LADS! - bit crazy you can do this yourself thru the dash, but can't clear the service light hey? ;) aahh, ducati...

you can also get aftermarket keys from a ebay seller called 'mitsu-nut' - has good feedback and they are around ~40USD shipped. I went oem in the end, so I can't vouch for the aftermarket keys, but it's another option.

Hi Ut tang- i bought 2014 ducati monster 696 right now it is almost 520 mile on it- is it really necessary to do full service or just change oil. Because Dealer wants to do full services. it cost $350, and there is other thing -how you took maintains sign off from the meter? - I need your advise ASAP-
