I got the Editor Lite V4 to work! I had to go from XP SP2 to just XP (which wasn't fun). Thanks though.

I stopped working on and selling Berninas back around 2018 so I am not up on the latest fixes for the 820 and 830 models. Back when I was working on those models, sorry to say that I really did not like the design of anything to do with threading the machine ,the threader or the bobbin system. These were nothing like the great older models that were manufactured in Switzerland. That's one of the reasons I lost Interest in the Bernina brand. The 830 was just not a reliable machine. Sorry I can't be of more help.

@@adelineeustace8533 Thanks for your opinion BUT it was not bent, neither were the several others that came out of the pack I used for testing. Bottom line is that it is a poor design. Many slow motion videos I took all on several different 830 models all showed the same problem on not having the thread not dropping down enough to catch the hook on the part that goes through the needle eye. Think what you want, those are the facts.

Yours might have what is called a "make and brake" ignition. That ignition system is mounted on the side of the block. As far as being newer? My guess would be that the make and break ignition systems were used before the spark plug versions on the full scale antique versions. So as far as ignition systems goes yes there are those 2 versions on the same engine.

Hi, I really don't think it matters what side of that tab the thread goes on. I was told by someone that the tab or guide if you want to call it that, is to keep the thread separated when you use a double needle. Then one thread goes on one side and one goes on the other. That must really be a nightmare to thread a double needle because threading one needle is hard enough 😁. On any other tips or tricks, I really do not have any. Right after selling a few of the 830 machined back in 2018, I got out of the Bernina business. I had to spend so much time with each 830 that I sold to get it to work right, it simply was not worth all my time to sell any more. When they work as they should they really are great machines BUT that auto threader design is a bit of a disaster in my opinion. I am not sure if you are trying to manually thread the needle or you are using the auto threader. If you are using the auto threader you are better off manually threading the needle. A manual needle threader was included with all new 830 models. Hummmm...wonder why Bernina included a manual needle threaded? Guess they knew their auto threader was junk. Keep the reverse button held in till your machine starts embroidering. Thats about 2 or 3 seconds of holding in that button. If that does not work then when you get a chance, see if it works when sewing. See if it reverses the stitching. If not then the small circuit board that is just behind the reversing switch needs to be removed and the switch/button carbon contacts need to be cleaned. A Q-tip with rubbing alcohol works to clean off dirt / dust buildup. 😁

When changing the belt, the top and bottom shaft need to be pinned in place so they do not move. Any slight movement of either shaft will throw the mechanical timing off. What usually happens when the timing is out of adjustment is that your needle will crash into the bobbin case and break thought it could be off by a slight amount and then the machine wont be able to produce a stitch. I have a video for the 180 or 200 model machine where I talk about setting the timing.I got out of working on and selling Berninas back around 2019 so all I have left are some of the 180 models. It really is going to be almost impossible for you to get your machine back in time without the pinning tools and knowing what you are doing. Most likely you will need to take it to a dealer to get it re-timed.
