Now, in the days of the apostles the law of circumcision was had among all the Jews who believed not the gospel of Jesus Christ. And it came to pass that there arose a great contention among the people concerning the law of circumcision, for the unbelieving husband was desirous that his children should be circumcised and become subject to the law of Moses, which law was fulfilled. And it came to pass that the children, being brought up in subjection to the law of Moses, gave heed to the traditions of their fathers and believed not the gospel of Christ, wherein they became unholy. Wherefore, for this cause the apostle wrote unto the church, giving unto them a commandment, not of the Lord, but of himself, that a believer should not be united to an unbeliever; except the law of Moses should be done away among them, That their children might remain without circumcision; and that the tradition might be done away, which saith that little children are unholy; for it was had among the Jews; But little children are holy, being sanctified through the atonement of Jesus Christ; and this is what the scriptures mean.

What does it mean to be born again of water and the Spirit? Acts 2:38 has the exact answer to the question. Repentance, water baptism in Jesus’ name and receive the Holy Ghost just as the believers in the Bible. Please read of the conversion experiences in the book of Acts. There is a common theme among them all. Believing in Jesus, being baptized in Jesus name and they receive the Holy Ghost and spake in other tongues. This is the promise of the Father. This is that that was spoken by the prophet Joel. It’s still for you today.

You might want to google that. If you are serious about learning about Pentecost I find this book very helpful: amzn.to/3yxxhg9 May the Lord bless you on your sojourn.

English - Muhsin Khan 19. Truly, the religion with Allah is Islam. Those who were given the Scripture (Jews and Christians) did not differ except, out of mutual jealousy, after knowledge had come to them. And whoever disbelieves in the Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, signs, revelations, etc.) of Allah, then surely, Allah is Swift in calling to account. Aali-'Imran | Surah 3 verse 19

Very encouraging! I was truly able to relate to Peter as he was desiring an earthy kingdom. It seems that he was not lacking courage to seek that, but rather struggling with faith and trust as he processed the reality that Christ’s kingdom is not achieved by physical force. I see this is the current revival of theonomy and Christian reconstructionism-a kingdom confusion.

What an encouraging message! I have been wrongly focusing on the one or two trees and missing the forest in my prior attempts to make sense of Matthew 24. And as I see it as a whole, I see the perfect application to our day and age. Thank you.

Very helpful exposition of Matthew 24, Pastor. Thank you. The placement of this passage within the historical redemptive story helped me see the significance. I have listened to a few other preachers who have jumped right into eschatological significance, only. While that was not unhelpful it missed the connection to the grand narrative and left me not knowing how to make application. For a home reading this comment who has not listened to the sermon, I highly recommend this wonderful example of strong Reformed preaching that is filled with hope and assurance.

I have a question in reference to infant baptism. If salvation truly comes by grace through faith, and we must first believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him, can an infant have saving faith in Jesus Christ, and specifically faith that believes God will reward them if they diligently seek him? no where in the scripture does it explicitly say that infants cannot be baptized however, it does explicitly say that a recipient of salvation must have faith, and must be a faith that moves one to action. Please comment on this.

If you see baptism as a sign of faith then you are correct. However, if you see baptism as a sign of the covenant then there is no problem. So, we see baptism as the sign of the covenant rather than faith. We see children as members of the covenant community. I hope that helps to clarify a few things.
