Hello Stefan I like your sound so much but I'm surprised : I don't see any modular synth in this Live Set. Maybe a few samples of them in your Octatrack?
@st-modularАй бұрын
Well, for me, modular systems complicate playing live unnecessarily - especially for drums. I've used them in the past for basslines, but I didn't like the fact that patterns can't be recreated. But be assured, 90% of the samples on the Octatrack and Rhythm are produced with my modules. 😉 Thanks for your comment 💯👍

It can’t do a snappy decay envelope, without that big hold stage at the beginning with the level set by the attenuator, can it? I know it’s not in the manual that it can, but I expected it. Not unreasonable imo.
@st-modular3 ай бұрын
Hey Warius, I´m not sure if I understand your question correctly, but the LVL attenuator needs to be fully open for the envelope to reach its maxium peak voltage, which can create snappy envelopes just like shown in the very first seconds of the video. What specific problem do you have? What would you like to do?
@wariusgaius3 ай бұрын
@@st-modular Thanks for your reply. I was wrong. When you feed a trigger to the gate input, the envelope is snappy. I would have liked the internal clock to be a trigger and the internal clock generator to give triggers to the envelopes in stead of gates. All for snappiness. Anyway, the module is good value and a great companion for the DFAM. If you think my first comment isn’t appropriate, I’d understand if you remove the thread. Cheers

This video is incredibly hard to watch and extremely difficult to interpret how the module works from watching. I have read the “manual” and it lacks any technical specifications. My module acting unexpectedly and I cannot find the information here or on your website to troubleshoot the situation.. I am even having a hard time writing this comment because the audio from your video is driving me insane. Please create a different video to show the capability of this device. Edit: it seems the manufacturer changed the information on the website based on my finding, yet has not responded to my emails or commented here. CalSynth has denied this change happened, however I have screencaps from before and after the website was changed. At this , moment you can see one description of the module on ST Modulars website and different information on Modular Grid and CalSynths website. I find this behavior irresponsible, and I hope to warn as many people as I can about this company.

Hey Forrest, I have already explained all this to you in detail by email, but it seems you would like to have a copy of it publicly. Therefore, I am happy to share this here as well: I did indeed make a mistake in the module description. I realized this when answering your questions about the module via email and corrected the information on my website (and informed the shops). I apologize again for this. We have agreed that you can return your module with a full refund. Unfortunately, I cannot reimburse you for the whole system you have built around Cause & Effect, which, as you have described, you can no longer use due to the updated module description. As for the videos, I agree that they are not helpful for everyone, but I don't have the time or money to revise them all at this time. However, for new modules, I do provide more comprehensive videos with descriptions in the subtitles. Thanks, Stefan

This video is slightly easier to watch than the 3u version, but It is difficult to understand what is happening either of the cause & effect videos you made. However, it seems that in the switch section IN B is passed through to the output when the gate is high. My module is acting in the opposite way, passing IN A through when the gate is high. But this only happens when I have a dummy cable patched to IN B as well. If there is no dummy cable a constant signal is passed through from IN A weather a gate is applied or not. There are multiple other issues I am having with this module that are not explained in the short write up I found online. Please share a link with info on what voltage range are accepted at the inputs, and weather the Read Limit knob is supposed to be bi-polar +/-10v. Is there a way to stop the normalizing/invention from IN A to IN B? I have been able to find absolutely no technical information about this module. It seems the READ IN is expecting a +/- 10v signal? Is this the case? If so is there any way to scale it to 0-5v. Also, the part where IN A is normaled and inverted to IN B is causing me to need a dummy cable every time I use the module. Is there any way to change this behavior? It was not stated in the online documentation that this is how the module works. For clarification, I did not build this module, I purchased it fully built from CalSynth.

I know I left a comment somewhere I can't find saying it didn't work much for me... But I'd like to add a meaculpa. I have a situation with lots of added saturation and the take was very noise. I gave it a try to the hum protector and it did a decent job. All is not gone but again there's alot of saturation and it's more a "natural" noise of the trashed tubes i'm using. But this eratic hiss noise is gone.

In the realm where electrons dance amidst a symphony of voltages, there exists a marvel of human ingenuity-the modular synthesizer. Each patch cable weaves a tale of connectivity, a narrative of sonic possibility. Like the strands of fate, they intertwine in a dance of creation, birthing melodies that echo the rhythms of existence itself. Within this labyrinth of knobs and switches lies a reflection of life's complexity, where every twist and turn unveils new harmonies waiting to be discovered.

How long does the sample and hold circuit hold the voltage before drooping?
@st-modular4 ай бұрын
A slow drop is a normal behaviour of most S&H circuits, including the LF398. Increasing the cap value may help reduce it as it discharges more slowly, but I'm afraid a drop is inevitable.
