The first time I watched it, I felt bad and confused, but this is not one of those shows where you say I've watched it and it's over. The pieces fall into place as you think about and discuss the tiny details. So you can't really say you've watched it until you've watched it frame by frame over and over again and watched the discussion videos. For example, I can take the movie The Matrix as an example

Have you seen "Castlevania", "Fallout" or "Cyberpunk: Edgerunners" already? All good game adaptations, if you're interested now that you have finished Arcane. "Invincible" season 3 also comes out in February and I love that show as well.

9:34 Jinx here looks like a more colorful version of Spider-Gwen's Venom suit 26:03 We can see 3 of the Victor hand strings of light enter the Hex Gates so I guess one is meant for Vi, one from Jinx and the 3rd one was supposed to find Ekko but I guess he was too fast on his hoverboard and managed to escape it.

She never abandoned her, she literally took some space after Powder did something horrific before being imprisoned. Vi was probably the most righteous character in Season 1

Omg how did you guys come away from the show disliking Vi? Everything she did in this show was for other people. I do get that there were some writing issues though.

If it makes you feel better, people also point out, Jayce killing past Viktor actually caused him to go down a bad path. If he had just come back and told Viktor what he saw, Viktor MIGHT of just stopped (again some bad writing and we wouldn't have the end fight, but again just goes to show Jayce could've avoided it all if he just told Viktor)

Also just to let you know, the lead show runner did a two hour interview and he actually confirmed that Ekko told Jinx about the alternate universe, and secondly that Jinx told Ekko she was going to leave without telling Vi, if she had the chance. His card is actually for Heimdeinger. This does not excuse bad story telling and please I want to know your complaints are valid as many fans hold the same issues and I am one of them. Just wanted to add in some context for some things and for conversation. I did enjoy the reaction and do appreciate your final thoughts!

Man thank you so much for the write up, I think you are spot on with everything you said in this comment section - definitely make that analysis video! I am sure a lottt of people share your views on this. Our thoughts in the video are straight after the first watch on the day of release, so its a bit messy, and by now and after editing it we have much more context, but like you said, to me that still does not excuse bad writing. In fact, having thought more about it, I am only noticing more and more oddities in characters and plot in season 2 in general that we didnt mention in our rant. In contrast to Season 1, where every new detail you find about the show only elevates your experience, with Season 2 I found myself looking for explainations and details because I am basically coping with this fumble lol. Absolutely agree with you that main problem is runtime - more time could have solved all of the main issues I have with it. But yea, not really much to add to what you said here in the comments, thank you for that, it was a very refreshing and interesting read!

It’s taken me a while to write this, almost debated starting up my own youtube channel just to make a video analysis video lol. I have my initial impressions and then after thinking about it for a while. First thoughts without bullet points was Act 3 of Season 2, just didn’t have enough runway. I think they tried to cram in so many thoughts, plots, characters, etc. and at least for me, left an unsatisfactory and distasteful ending. On a personal level, I don't actually blame the showrunners or writers in this case. For example, it is widely considered and regarded that D&D, writers for Game of Thrones decided they wanted to be done with it, so they basically got lazy and started Teleporting everybody, everywhere and characters were acting out of line. In this case, I think Riot either needed to give them a whole another season, or at least increase the runtime for each episode, if not the last act to flesh it out. The biggest criticism of Arcane is the pacing, and maybe I had rose colored glasses on, but it really shows in the last act. There's definitely special moments. I'm going to make a bullet point list. I'll start with my negatives and then move to positives, it could be much longer but I'm going to try to keep it condensed to important things to me. Also for some background, I played league from season 5- to season 9. I knew the characters, lore, universe, etc. Negatives - Loris death(aka i like to call him Zander, Vanders half brother that their mother didn't tell them about an affair lol) - I found his death very lack luster and bs. You're telling me this dude who took on a large chemtank with a beefy shield, got taken down by some Noxus soldiers with arrows…? I called bs the second it happened. - Ambessa - I am personally underwhelmed by her character, knowing Noxus and Noxians. While she did take on Mel who's now a powerful mage and Cait who has fighting training now, I found her weak. Noxus and Ambessa as a whole should've been the main antagonist of this whole season, culminating in a final battle involving Vi, Jinx, and whomever else. I guess I would say just more action scenes, even though ironically I think just more screen time. But if it's just action, we got her using her blades ONCE? Again maybe it's just me, but very disappointed in her as a character from the writers. That also includes, she wanted to use Viktor to defeat the black rose but is she really that dumb to not realize what Viktor’s plan is…? If anything, that just makes her naive and believe Ambessa is far from naive, even with her runes, I don't think she defeats Viktors minions. - Viktor, Jayce and just the “Arcane” this kind of elaborates on my main thought. With a little extra context of other reactor thoughts and general consensus the pacing is fast. I've seen some people mention, when we get away from Jinx, Vi, Caitlyn, Piltover vs. Zaun and into the world building, some people got lost in the sauce. In the making of the show, the creators talk about how their original draft was very plot driven, not character driven. People are invested into Vi, Jinx, Caitlyn, Jayce, etc. Piltover and Zaun. Their hardships, downfalls, relationships, etc. In the span of the last 3 episodes or just act, we go from character driven into all powerful mage trying to annihilate the world, Jayce getting powers basically through the hammer, Mel becomes a powerful mage, generic super army, Mel betrays the Black Rose so people at least at this point wouldn't learn more about them, their goals, etc. I could go on but in simplicity I thought a lot of stakes were lost. - Jinx's “death”/Vander(Warwick dying again) - Again everything is subjective. Maybe it was just emotionally draining last episode or idk, but I found the writers plan for the sisters sad. They've mentioned many times in public “The last scene between the sisters has been their guiding light for all the dark moments.” I get if everything isn't rosey good at the end, and maybe people wouldn't like that, but mean really? Jinx and Vi have been through so much trauma, I really thought they deserved a better & happier ending for each other. Positives - All of episode 7 & Ekko - I mean what is there to say? It's pretty self explanatory. Ekko is the MVP and for me personally, holds something special in my heart. “The Boy Who Shattered Time” saved the day. - Caitlyn and Vi moment - The biggest criticism I've seen is why would Vi have sex in jail where her sister just was? But I think people are underestimating the words Caitlyn says to Vi. Caitlyn is still Piltover lead general or leader, in typical fashion, if it was found out she committed treason and let a fugitive go, she could be executed (excluding all the other crap going on and if it was investigated how Jinx escaped. Also low key, if nobody noticed, Caitlyn gave Jinx the hex gemstone) but like she said, she knew Vi's love for her sister would be predictable and go try to save her. Not knowing if they leave town, stay, whatever happens. And while some say, why wouldn't Vi focus on trying to find her sister, she doesn't know where Jinx went and was told to pursue her love. Also I think they know Ambessa is on the way and might be the last time they are ever together. Catilyn is also basically telling Vi that her hatred for Jinx either has disappeared or that her love for Vi outweighed her hatred for Jinx. So Vi chooses to love Caitlyn and it's a passion of love. Maybe i'm ignorant or some weirdo lol, but I think they both deserved the moment together - Maddie reveal(or switch and bait) - as much as I want to hate it and put it in my negatives. One because I defended Maddie in some of my comments. I'd like to argue I think they still hold true, for what we were presented at the time. I think one criticism I've seen is just that they didn't leave any hints WHETHER she was a spy from the beginning or just switched once Vi came back in the picture. And some say lazy writing to get her out of the way for Vi. Some also say they saw it a mile away so I guess I'm gullible lol. But it was shocking. Some hints people say is she was the first one to chest pound to Ambessa and some swear you can see a Noxian uniform underneath her Piltover outfit but I couldn't tell. And that Maddie was person Ambessa was able to fill in Caitlyn "vacuum." Personally, I think she switched after Vi entered the picture and she heard Vi and Caitlyn talking. Final conclusion I don't think Arcane is a total masterpiece. Literally the last act or just possibly last two episodes ruin it for me, but it's right up there as one of the best shows ever made in my honest humble opinion, animated or non-animated. I'm actually not a huge anime fan at all and never cared for Avatar or other ones(I know that's blasphemous to say), so I may be ignorant, but I've heard many people say just Arcane season 1 is goated and possibly dethrone some of the best out there in one season, 9 episodes of 40 minutes each. Coming into Arcane as a fan of the IP, I had hesitation, but the creators delivered. Arcane season 1 is goated. Arcane Season 2 up to Act 2 is goated, only the ending lowers it for me.
@michaelcarlson12086 күн бұрын
Looking back at this now, I think season 1 is goated. But season 2 is almost a masterpiece with a messy ending... There's lots of issues but to keep it simple for comments, the main two issues are pacing & sacrificing their complex, nuanced, and intricate characters for trying to expand the world to quickly. I've seen some people mention, when we get away from Jinx, Vi, Caitlyn, Piltover vs. Zaun and into the world building, some people got lost in the sauce which I think is valid.(That's coming from someone who already knew the characters, lore, universe, etc. I could understand if casual audience got lost at some point) In the making of the show (Bridging The Rift), the creators talk about how their original draft was very plot driven, not character driven. People are invested into Vi, Jinx, Caitlyn, Ekko Jayce, etc. Ambessa and Noxus should've been the ultimate and main antagonist of this series ending. I am personally underwhelmed by her character, knowing Noxus and Noxians. Luckily everything is subjective, but their end choice for the sisters did make me sad and I felt like it was an unsatisfying ending for them. Jinx and Vi have been through so much trauma, they deserved a happier ending together as sisters. (I know Jinx lives and escaped through the tunnels, and flew off in the blimp) I don't find it as egregious as D&D /Game of Thrones. General consensus is that D&D just wanted to be done with GOT, so they just rushed the last season to teleport everybody, everywhere. And characters made choices that didn't make sense or give them time to get to their final journey. With Arcane, I think Riot Games needed to give the writers either another season to flesh out the story and ending they wanted to tell, or AT least should've increased the run-time for the last act to give them more runway. I mean the Ekko episode is amazing and he is the mvp, but the last two episodes almost ruined the whole series for me. In the end, i am glad they went out on their own terms and I think Arcane as a whole is a Masterpiece with a messy ending. According to good old internet, which is always a reliable source lol. In the year of 2024 so far, Riot Games has generated 2.5 billion dollars. While I don't blame the business for not wanting to sink more money into the show, they mentioned in their documentary (Bridging The Rift) they don't want to half a** anything, and if it's not good, they won't launch it(not just the show, just general mindset) Now luckily entertainment is subjective. I only WISH they gave them more time to flesh it out, as for me, I felt it disappointing and unsatisfied, mostly just because I think they focused on expanding too quickly in literally 2 episodes, instead of focusing on the characters and intimate, complex and nuanced relationships.

It's heavily implied Jinx lived and decided to "Break the Cycle" by leaving since Vi would never give up on her. 1)If you slow down time, you can see a purple shimmer pattern before the bomb explodes 2)They show Caitlyn smirk as she is inspecting the ventilation schematics and that one lead out of the tower as you saw 3)They show a blimp flying away, just like in the opening when Powder says "I'm going to ride in one of those one day" and her signature scratches on the camera before the camera cuts away.

Just to explain some things. Firstly, we can only assume the reason why Ekko wasn't effected from Viktor's magic/glorious evoltuion was because he was knocked out. Granted they don't set any rules on how it works, who it targets, etc. but if you at least notice, everybody was awake when they got touched while Ekko was knocked out. Secondly to why Ekko was able to resist Viktor longer than others. The reason why Ekko was able to resist Viktors "glorious evolution" was because he experienced a world that in his mind was perfect (episode 7). Obviously and unfortunately Violet was gone and some others. Excluding them though and just his current emotional state and being able to see Piltover & Zaun as one, along with experiencing what if, love scenario with Powder, this is the world he wanted and envisioned. So instead of immediately wanting "peace" through Viktors evolution, he wanted what he always envisioned for the dream city, for Violet, Powder, Heimdeinger, Benzo, Firelights, Piltovians, etc. Because of his emotional strength, willpower and happiness he experienced, he was powerful enough to resist Viktor, instead of immedeiately wanting "peace and or losing his emotions, good and bad through Viktor" Ekko was able to hold off a little bit longer since he experiened a better world where basically everything worked out perfectly. Everybody else while may want peace in some ways, they didn't get a chance to live a different life, so they are immediately taken by Viktor because he can help "cure" them of their emotions, traumas, etc. Also while not explained well also, The reason why Viktor says "that device can't be." Excluding some bad writing and Viktor's whole re-attempting to fix his mistake. In technicality, the bad Viktor could not have/ or didn't ever predict Ekko having the Z-drive, BECAUSE it contained one of the Runes he gave Jayce, but Ekko inverted it. Also in episode 7 when Ekko mentioned "He inverted the acceleration rune from one of Jayce's notes." Meaning in all possible timelines, and possibilities, he only assumed the simplicity of Runes being used one way, not inverted. I don't know if that makes sense, but hopefully I articulated everything decently well....lol

That was an amazing series 60 minutes of it was cut which was disappointing but there is a book coming out called The Art and Making of Arcane I'm just happy Jinx got away would be better if we had more interactions with her and Ekko thety oainted each other and Jinx has the symbol of The Firelight on her and her airship has the bunny ears like Isha was wearing plus the goggles

for your guys's info the framerate is low on purpose. its made in 4 frames a seconds which is the same as the rewind machine and also thier fight in season one was 4 seconds so between these two the number 4 is important. also for the rose its a blue rose with both his and powders face on it. blue roses mean an impossible love or an unattainable love

Honestly didn't care much for Cait and Vi I was so worried about Jinx and what she was going to do

Definately was a bit jarring that Vi jumped into Cait's pants right after that exchange with Jinx. Seems we care about Jinx more than her own sister 🤷♂
@RJose6668 күн бұрын
@diadaka honestly I think ppl misinterpret that scene way too much. It's not that Vi doesn't care about her sister quite the opposite. Vi literally has centered her whole life around jinx, feeling responsible and blaming herself for her mistakes. She thinks that Jinx has used her to escape and abandoned her and will probably go and blow something up like she did the last time she was upset. And once again Vi blames herself for "choosing wrong", she learns that Cait helped her get Jinx out, that Cait supported and accepted whatever decision she was going to make so that burden isn't solely on her anymore. Meaning that Cait chose her love for Vi over her hate and desire for revenge, so it's really no surprise that Vi acted how she did in that moment. That's really the first time Vi has chosen something for herself, in that moment she lets go of all the unjust guilt she has carried on her shoulders with the person she has feelings for and the only person she thinks she has left, so I really can't hold it against her. Also it's not crazy considering the situation thinking she might never get another chance🤷♂.

@diadaka that's... a really bad take, and missing the whole point about breaking the cycle - in this case Vi constantly chasing after Jinx. Jinx even tells her to let it go, and stop chasing her, and to choose Caitlyn. I mean.. this is right after Jinx punches her and locks her up to stop her following her as she always does as she knows it's destructive for Vi. As has been shown for the last two seasons, with the only thing that makes Vi truly happy is being with Caitlyn. And you're like 'why doesn't she chase after Jinx'. The sex scene was 1:40, and had been building up for 2 seasons. Our of the blue? I don't get it.

The other comment already covers that the frame rate is intentional for Ekko. Another tidbit is that Ekko is asking her to pretend like it's the first time because Ekko and Powder of that universe were already dating and had kissed before but for our Ekko it was his first time. They drop a little bit of hints here and there throughout the episode. Also Ekko in League has a voiceline where he talks about how he used to have a crush on Jinx before she went crazy.

Love neat details of how the lore ties between the game and the show. We knew earlier that Warwick was gonna be Vander because three years ago I saw people put together his voicelines from the game vs events in the show, or something to that effect, though we don't play league ourselves. But yea the whole Ekko/Jinx alternative universe was so heart-warming and bitter sweet to see
